Brave and the Bold Casting Thread

Bill Skarsgård’s got the It franchise with WB too. I think I’d still prefer him over Butler, but I could definitely live with that pick.

What I’d really like, though, is for Reeves’ The Batman films (and The Penguin) to just be retconned as having taken place 10 years ago in the DCU. That way, the audience is simply catching up on his early years before he ever links up with the Justice League.

Sure, it wasn’t the original intention, and I wouldn’t want to fully railroad Reeves here, but it’s a clean way to eventually bring Pattinson’s Batman into the broader DCU after The Batman Part II. There’s still a ton of grounded crime to explore, even in a superpowered universe. And just because metahumans exist in the world that The Batman would now also be a part of doesn’t mean they need to be constantly (or really ever, really) referenced, unless it’s in service to the story being told.

Look at Daredevil: Born Again, if Penguin became mayor like Fisk in a 3rd Reeves film, set sometime after Pt. II, it’s not like Superman’s just going to come crashing through city hall. As long as we’re not dealing with nuclear bombs like in Rises, it’s easy to hand-wave the “where’s the Justice League?” question.

I can't remember if I've already shared this suggestion before on this thread or another, but I often think of Kyle MacLachlan for James Gordon.

I also believe there was a Superman in him and looking to see if others felt the same way, I just found out that he actually gave his voice to Big Blue in New Frontier. Another reason for me to revisit this film!

Is Oliver Cohen Jackson a good actor? I haven’t seen any of his tv shows or movies

Macy wouldn’t be a bad Gordon, but part of me wants them to go especially DCAU with it. The Animated Series Gordon looked almost like a goddamn superhero in his own right.

I mean look at that jawline…

Give us hunky Gordon for the women over 50. They’ve earned it.
interesting thought, and someone Gunn's worked with before...

but, what about Stallone these days with his grey'd up look?

I know he was already briefly Thomas Wayne, but how about Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the silver fox Gordon?

I could go for that, just as long as he drops the Negan swagger. I feel like a lot of the roles he’s played since he started TWD have been kind of Negan lite.

But he’s got a good look for Gordon, especially a Gordon that can scrap.

Would be cool if this movie brings in supporting characters beyond Damien too. DC heroes like Jonah Hex or Green Lantern (whichever one).

Think Batman & Son meets Batman: Universe.

This is awesome!!!

I think I'm pretty much on the Ethan Peck Train at this point. Very easy to picture him with Corenswet.
Same.

Theo James has caught my attention as of late, but Peck seems more like a Gunn pick.

I almost wonder if Theo is too sun-kissed for Bruce? He doesn’t look like he’s spends the majority of his social life at night

Someone on Reddit might've cooked.

Superman's decent, not great, box office makes me think that WB might push for a name actor for Batman here.

Superman movie had a full cast of unknowns. Hoult was the biggest name. The film didn't do well with the older demos, so a 40+ Batman might be the way to go. Especially with the Damian storyline.

Batman is generally played by actors who have been cinematic leads before or are on the verge of becoming a leading man for the studio (Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney, Bale, Affleck, Pattinson).

Personally, I would love Josh Hartnett to be the DCU Batman, checks off all the boxes. voice, height, physicality, maturity, name actor, and he seems to be making a comeback post-Oppenheimer.

Different enough from Pattinson's 'young' Batman, which is also important.

This Batman needs to have a paternal presence to him. He has raised several sons in the Bat family. He may have even inspired Pom Klementieff's Huntress and other Bat-adjacent vigilantes.
