Brave and the Bold Casting Thread

I binged The Gentlemen on Netflix the other day and Theo James shot up to the top of my list for this. He has a really good, quiet intensity that I think would be perfect for Bruce Wayne. And his cocky womanizer character on The White Lotus convinces me that he could easily nail “public persona” Bruce. At 39 (but looking younger) he would be the right age playing a character with a teenage son.

I know he’s been suggested for Batman before over the years but The Gentlemen really made me see it. Definitely recommend giving it a watch if you’ve haven’t.

Theo James as Batman...I can see it but for him to have a teenage son I can't see it unless you make Bruce older hence why you go with an older actor

Theo would be at least 40 by the time this starts filming. If he is playing Bruce as his actual age, it would mean he fathered a 12 to 14-year-old Damian at around 26-28. I think that’s reasonable.

I guess you have a good point so in that case I can't argue with Theo as Batman

Theo James is awesome and has a great voice but also maybe the silliest face I’ve ever seen. Like a Dreamworks parody of a handsome man.
Make him Deathstroke so that mug won't be seen. :p

Looked him up and his wikipedia photo is like ten years old.

Change the damn photo already, jeez.

I feel like a prime or older Batman ought to exude an air of authority in both his speech and demeanor, which is why I'm holding out hope for a Richard Armitage type.

I used to really dislike Theo James, but then I watched his performance on TWL and some other show with Ygritte from GoT, and I thought, "Okay, he's not so bad." As far as Batman goes, though, I think he's better suited for a campier take on the character.

Give me Ethan Peck or Oliver Jackson Cohen as Bruce Wayne/Batman but then if you want an older Batman, you have to go Jensen Ackles or Jake Gyllenhaal under Gunn

I feel like Hardy loses some talent every time he attempts his “Elmer Fudd doing a Marlon Brando impression” American accent. After that next Venom movie, he’ll be all tapped out.

And I don’t get the hype for Bridgerton guy. That dude is bland. I like the other two though.
“Bridgerton guy” was fantastic in Showtime’s Fellow Travelers imo, was delightful in Crashing, and won an Olivier for the West End revival of Company. Dude’s a wonderful singer on top of having a ton of acting range. He’s super talented imo. Bridgerton’s just blah.

Tom Hardy’s an amazing actor who also happens to like trash. A glorious combination. :hehe:

I wasn’t actually suggesting any of those guys for Batman, just proving I’m not biased against Brits, for the record!

But yes I also would not complain if Bailey were cast. :funny:

Jack O'Connell was my pre-Pattinson The Batman fan cast so I'd be down for him here. Except he's short so he's an instant write off in noted height pervert James Gunn's books.

Y’all are going too damn young.

Jonathan Bailey isn’t the Fellow Traveler I want. Give me Bomer. Jack O’Connell? ***** please. Jack LEMMON!

I still haven't felt as strongly as Joel Edgerton and Lee Pace, no other name has really stuck with me like those two.

I like Edgerton a lot, but I can’t see him as Batman at all. Also, he would be at least 50 by the time this starts filming.
