Just gonna say I absolutely cannot stand Callum Turner. Ever since War & Peace. One of the most punchable faces I've ever come across.

I haven’t seen enough of his work to feel this strongly, but he certainly doesn’t have a Bruce Wayne look. And that’s even taking into account that our first big screen Batman of the modern era was Beetlejuice.

I feel like any moderately handsome guy can have a Bruce Wayne look (or not have one) with the right hair and makeup team. If I’m being honest I didn’t think Pattinson had a perfect Bruce look in The Batman, but it’s fine because he brings it in the performance. Granted, they were trying to differentiate his Bruce from previous ones but there were moments like the funeral scene where I thought they could have leaned more into classic Bruce.

Meanwhile in many ways, Affleck had a perfect Bruce look and yet somehow he just looked like an empty paper bag with eyeholes cut out.

I know people hate Affleck’s voice changer, but I don’t really think he has a strong enough voice to pull it off without the changer. His voice was always my main concern when he was first cast, but the voice changer worked for me.

That said, I don’t want another voice changer for the DCU Batman. And that leads me to Gyllenhaal. He has everything I’m looking for in a Batman candidate except for the voice.

Pretty sure I’ve shot this suggestion down before bc I wanted him for Constantine (and still do), but in the interest of casting a wide net…



For being both a Brit and only two years his junior, he would bring a very different vibe than Pattinson. He would almost certainly have a ball with the playboy Bruce persona, while also being able to turn on a dime. He would have to bulk up some, but that’s true of any actor taking on one of these roles, including David’s giant ass. Plus I think he would create a nice contrast to David.

Not the perfect physical embodiment of the role as he exists in the comics, but I think we can agree, sometimes that can be… a bit boring (eyes flicker momentarily toward Affleck).

He and David on the World's Finest (or whatever) press tour would be exactly the same as he and Jeff Goldblum on Wicked's press tour and I think that would be beautiful.

Normally I would say this is another solid option likely ruled about by Gunn's stupid height obsession, but Gunn DID like a post suggesting Bailey for Batman so I refuse to rule him out!

Yeah I would love this. But Bailey as Constantine? Amazing suggestion. Can’t believe I haven’t seen anyone make it until now. Give me that, please else! He would be perfect. Imagine him doing a Mucous Membrane song on the soundtrack too! Just give him some blond locks and go to town. I would love to see a queer actor in that role, finally. He would crush it!

Oh yeah Gunn is weird about height. Did he ever make up with Anson Mount over that stupid Twitter fight over that?

I only ask because Mount would be the ULTIMATE King Faraday and I would love to see that character show up.
