Brave and the Bold Casting Thread

Oh yeah Gunn is weird about height. Did he ever make up with Anson Mount over that stupid Twitter fight over that?

I only ask because Mount would be the ULTIMATE King Faraday and I would love to see that character show up.
I'm not sure they've had any subsequent exchanges. Which sucks because I agree Mount would be great for that.

Yeah he would. He looks like he stepped out of a comic with his Strange New Worlds hair. God I wish my gray hair looked half that good hahaha.

Bailey is supposedly 5'11", so with boots on he'd be over 6'0". I don't think that's worth being a height nazi over, but I digress. Personally, it'd be great if Superman had a little bit of height on Batman anyway.

Biblically accurate height difference…

If we’re looking at shorter (Batman fancast height scale) British kings, then I just go back to ATJ

But… Kraven…
I mean, realistically, I’m not sure how much we can blame him or any of these actors for how audiences respond to Sony’s whack-ass ideas of what would make for an attractive Spider-Man spinoff, but… it’s certainly not a point in his favor, either.

Yeah no I don’t blame him for that but it DID make me laugh how many reviews of 28 Years Later just referred to him as “Kraven the Hunter” the whole time lol.

And I mean… no one held a gun to his head when he signed onto that ****, let’s be real

I mean… can we be sure? :o

Surely there’s some of that going on in Hollywood. I mean, why else is Leto getting hired so often?

I'm not too hung up on height for Batman.... I mean within reason

height can always be adjusted on screen, thick boots/lefts, camera angles ...
(just don't surround them with much taller actors)

I do like the idea of a height difference between Bats and Supes (they shouldn't be equal size)

Yeah I don’t care about Batman’s height. Our Superman is 6’5”. That’s perfect. Batman can be way shorter.

I wouldn't be opposed to a Batman that's an inch or two taller than David's Supes. Both Elordi and Pace, two actors I keep coming back to for the part, are effin' trees, and I also appreciate the contrast between a taller, more seasoned Batman and some of the other Justice League members. Having said that, I place a lot more value on an actor having the right screen presence as well as the capacity to strike a balance between darkness and light...between emotional turmoil and childlike innocence than I do any height preference. I just wish there was some talented forty-something out there, someone shining in such a way that made me think, "That's our guy," but no one is really standing out to me like that.

I’d honestly rather Batman just be like a head shorter so we can avoid the BS from the BvS days in which various WB suits are shooting their mouths off about how Batman should “tower” over Superman and intimidate him. Like, dude, go away. Yeah we all know you think Batman is the cool one and Superman needs to play second fiddle to him, blah blah blah. But we have a real Superman franchise we can build off of now. This thing doesn’t just have to be meal prep for the new Batman framchise.

in terms of height, when you look at what Batman "realistically" is, which is essentially an "urban ninja," shorter height and smaller body build might actually be an advantage with all the grappling and rooftop jumping around he is supposed to be doing.

I'd say 5'10" to 6'1" with a build like an MMA fighter like Georges St-Pierre (with maybe slightly more size) would be good. So an actor in that height range would be ideal for me.

A "big" Batman would look more intimidating for sure. But I've always felt that Batman should be more "tactical" instead of relying on raw strength and size. And his build and physique would reflect that.

Might be too Pattinson-coded but whatevs:

Josh O’Connor? Hmmm. I could see it but… he doesn’t seem dark enough to me. Maybe I haven’t seen him in the right roles though. I do like him though. Feels more like a Barry Allen to me though.

Gunn: “so I was watching 1923–”

DC accounts: “JAMES GUNN WAS WATCHING 1923 LOOKING FOR HIS NEXT BATMAN!!1!”
