Brave and the Bold Casting Thread

I still don't have any suggestions for the actor, but—and I hope this isn't a lack of imagination—I picture a pretty “conventional” Batman, physically speaking, for the DCU.

I'm generally very in favor of original casting and I appreciate pushing the envelope with these characters—my favorite actor in this role remains Keaton and I love the idea of someone like Skaasgard, Austin Butler, or Adam Driver under the cowl—but based on what we know about the influences here, I don't think it would be right. A squarer, older Batman, but still classic, might be more appropriate here, especially for a patriarchal version of the character.
Actually, I feel this even more after seeing Corenswet's Superman, who I think would contrast more naturally with a Batman displaing these characteristics...

Ironically enough, among the live-action Batmen of the past, I expect Gunn's version to be closer to Affleck's... At least visually, the characterization would be different, we all agree on that.

Yeah, Bill Skarsgard I d like to see. Just to piss off those people who would whine about a "skinny Euro actor" playing Batman.

And he'd kill it, too.

I have little interest in seeing him play the Joker. He already played a killer clown.

Theo James would be a pretty good choice , too. Guy has a sense of humor, and is overall an interesting actor imo.

Based on the glimpse we've seen in Creature Commandos, that's what we're going to get imo.

That's a very Batfleck/Dark Knight Returns silhouette.

Robert Pattinson can also be considered a "skinny Euro actor" when he was cast. I think DCU Batman should be American this time, I don't know how you Yankees feel about this, but that's just my opinion.

Shame to see what happened with Armie Hammer; he could've been a worthy contender.

Real life nationality doesn't matter.

He’d make a great John Corben/Metallo if they go with the military version. Or Captain Atom; loved that idea too.

First time I see the Sklenar vision.
Watched some clips of Sklenar on YouTube and I do see it. I actually agree he is the most similar to Corenswet. Up and coming actor, right age, right look, right voice.

I still think it’s kinda boring but it’s the most Corenswet like suggestion I’ve seen.

He actually has a lot of momentum behind his career, unlike some of these other smaller names I’ve seen suggested. He feels like he’s about to break out.

It’s still kind of a boring idea to me though, his character in that Tye Sheridan show is just Batman without the suit so we know how he’d play it. I’m just not confident he has what it takes to compare to the likes of Keaton or Bale. He’d at least be better than Affleck though and Clooney.

I agree with everything but that. Still, in my humble opinion, the best Batman portrayal on screen, BvS Batman looked like he was ripped straight from a Frank Miller book.

Unless you're talking about The Flash's Batfleck, then yeah, this one sucks particularly.

Yeah he looked great but he couldn’t act the part to save his life. That’s not even saying Affleck is a bad actor (he’s not). But he was a terrible Batman and an even worse Bruce Wayne. I don’t know what the secret sauce is to make a great Batman but Affleck was so far off the mark and got worse as he went on. His Batman (and “real” Bruce were just loud and angry and is public persona Bruce was just acting drunk. He was as mediocre at best.

That was the point, he is a Batman past his prime who doesn't give a sh*t anymore, and they went to see an actor who notoriously was at his lowest point for the part. I just loved it, tired, angry Batman, washed up, depressed Bruce Wayne. Too old to die young, criminals are like weeds, 20 years, how many good guys are left? How many stayed that way? I think having 50 yo playboy billionaire Bruce Wayne, who still acts like he's 25 years old, would've clashed with that version of the character.

I like BvS very much; it had lots of issues, but Ben Affleck wasn't part of it for me.

One choice I think I'm going off is Lee Pace... for some reason, I'm struggling to see him opposite Corenswet.
