Brave and the Bold Casting Thread

I feel like I’ve been eyeing up Lacy for a superhero role for years but I’m not sure Batman is the right one. Maybe though. He can certainly play an uptight rich guy and he’s good at going dark. But something just feels a little off about it. Maybe though? But if we’re delving into guys who played rich d-bags on The White Lotus I feel like Theo James edges him out here.

He's got an "Old Hollywood" look to him that I like.

While they're way too close to a Pattinson type to run concurrently, regardless of if you think they'd be good choices does anyone else feel like virtually anyone who isn't Gunn would probably cast Austin Butler or Jacob Elordi? Butler especially feels like a glaringly obvious successor both as an actor and his obvious standing at WB.

Both would work better as Nightwing or Red Hood imo, their facial features is too "feline" for Batman. Bruce Wayne should be more squared and rugged.

I feel like Butler could potentially be good. Kinda funny that both the guys you brought up recently played Elvis though. Makes me wonder if the real Elvis could have played Bruce Wayne in a campy Adam West-style Batman movie back in the day haha.

I really hope we get Hugo Strange, who I feel is lonnnnng overdue. I’m kinda shocked that we’ve even had two versions of Falcone and Zsasz in movies so far but one of Batman’s oldest and most interesting enemies has yet to make an appearance. Especially with all the psychological themes that have been introduced over the years. Some casting ideas…

Hugh Grant
Stephen Graham
Alastair Petrie

Mad Hatter could also be cool…

Tom Hollander

Was hoping the casting for Batman would have been announced for this year's Batman Day, on the 20th September.

"And another one gone, and another one gone. Another one bites the dust."

Gunn currently hosts Peacemaker: The Official Podcast, an episodic aftershow with Holland, Agee and various guests from the series. During a previous episode, Gunn mentioned in passing that he was watching Taylor Sheridan’s 1923. That detail sparked a flurry of speculation that he was checking out popular Batman fan-cast, Brandon Sklenar, who was the breakout star on that particular Yellowstone prequel. Sklenar recently spoke to THR about his ardent desire to play the next Dark Knight.

Unfortunately, Gunn says that his viewing of 1923 was unrelated to his search for the DCU’s Batman.

“I’m definitely not doing scouting for the Caped Crusader. But I’m always scouting when I’m watching TV shows,” Gunn says. “In fact, I really like the young woman [Julia Schlaepfer] in 1923. She is just so fantastic that I suggested her for something recently. She’s Brandon’s [Sklenar] significant other in that series.”

I’d love to see Julia show up as a character in the DCU. She’s great on 1923 and also starred in The Politician with Corenswet.

Cast Meghann Fahy as Vicki Vale or Silver St. Cloud.

Just because it would be hilarious if Gunn started casting all of Sklenar’s costars in Batman movies while ignoring him lol

Why? The project needs to fully come together yet (they're working on the script) and isn't casting yet.

Expect actual news to follow in 2026 for a production start in 2027 or later.
