Corybn facing leadership challenge. 40 Labour MPs rebelling against him including former leader Ed Miliband.

Britain's leading center left party turning on it's self.

Conservative leaders are throwing their hats in the ring for Prime Minster.

As expected all the EU major players and national leaders are saying no access the single market without the free movement of people.

Sturgeon is going around the EU trying to win favor for a independent Scottish membership. Spanish Prime Minister says they should not be talking to her. Spain and other European countries have their own separatist movements and aren't in favor of seeing Scotland leave the UK and join the EU.

If Scotland want to apply to join the EU they'll have to go through the same lengthy procedures that Turkey and the others are working on. That'll take them years and they probably won't meet the requirements anyway.

No it wouldnt, certainly not the 30 years that Turkey has waited.......Turkey will never get in with the Cyprus question unanswered.

Just about every continent would benefit from a union.

It's arrogant to think isolationism will give you more reach, opportunity and collective bargaining power.

It's like Texas seceding and finally realizing the benefits of a United States.

I like democracy but the "google Europen Union" crowd shouldn't have decided this.

I think that the EU idea, was a good one, but I do not think that they changed with the times. There comes a time in this world, as it is today, that totally open borders are not necessarily the best. I'm not saying walls should be erected everywhere, I'm just saying that the logistics of open borders should be in the perimeters of a database with sufficient information on certain groups should be free and open in all countries.....AND, until all of these different countries agencies similar to the CIA and FBI start working together instead of "beating their chests" in their own idiocy of some kind of autonomy then "open borders" should not be considered right now. As far as trade, etc.....there was no problem with that, except to those that think they are not 1. getting their fair share, 2. feeling like they are carrying the load, or 3. Tired of sharing.

That gets you called a fascist around these parts.

Boris not running any more! (maybe a reaction to Gove throwing his hat in)

I guess Theresa May is favourite now.

Being the next Prime Minister is a poisoned chalice right now. Not surprised Boris backed out.

I don't like Gove, Liam Fox or Theresa May. I don't know much about the other two guys that are in the running.

There's a reason we don't use referendums to decide most things.

I think democracy needs to be balanced out where the public can select leaders and influence policy but not when it requires very specialized knowledge to make the right decision.

There's a reason the founding fathers didn't make our system a direct democracy.

Yes, especially to anyone who was very prominent during the campaign! Will be very interesting to see who the leaders of the Tory and Labour Party are once all this mess has been sorted out. Both parties are more divided than ever and that is not the way to win an election or run a country, so they better get through it as quickly and painlessly as possible.

No googling AFTER the event!

A couple london conservative mps have said hundreds of constitutes have been calling them asking not to back Boris.

Looks like the conservatives will go further to the right while labour may return to the center.

It will be interesting to see what happens to ukip now as well. They are pretty much a one issue party and they got what they wanted. I suppose they may return to a protest party if the UK doesn't get a immigration deal with the EU.

I hope that happens. I prefer a more centrist Labour and right wing Tory party (both who can then compete for my vote). When those 2 both veer left it opens up a slot for the further right wing parties.

There's too much money (long term) and prestige in being the undisputed main man behind a leading party. Even if Farage quits there will be many who want to continue in his place, and that's even if they get everything they want from the EU negotiations.

Well apparently Gove might've convinced him not to run. But also the whole backing Brexit thing would've looked like a leadership bid for PM, so maybe the voting public would've been wary of his motives.

I saw Merkel made a statement that said the Brexit decision is irreversible.

Apparently now Germany are possibly wanting to leave the EU as well, potentially sparking a Dexit (Deutscheland Exit). It's supposed to be Merkel's worst nightmare. I don't know how accurate the article is though, because it's from the Daily Express:

If Scotland were to break off, would they still recognize Queen Elizabeth as their head of state?

It would probably be set up similar to Canada...if they want to do that.

Germany leaving would pretty much gut the EU, right?

Germany is the EU.

EU without Germany is like NATO without the United States.

So seeing how great this turned out, I as a Texan will now start up the next political movement. Texcesssion!

I would actually like to see Texas leave the union. In a year or less Texans will be immigrating (probably illegally) to the united states and Texas politicians will be begging to reenter the union.

If Texas left it would lose Federal funding and federal help. No FBI. No DOD. No National Guard. No Coast Guard. No EPA. No military. Etc. Texans would no longer be protected by the US Constitution. And the Cartel would probably immediately start making Texas its *****. But if thats what Texas wants more power to em.:hehe:

1. This sounds bad

2. This sounds worse - a triumph of the train of thought that gave ya'll Brexit

Do I have the right of it?

Let Texas stay - I say we annex Mexico as a state, legalizing its citizens.

I'm guessing people have seen this meme already? If not, I'll leave it here:

But who would've thought Germany might be the ones wanting to leave next?

Texit?

Florida = Flexit?
