Has anyone seen Brick with Joseph Gordon-Levitt? I heard good things about the movie and decided to watch it since it's been on HBO this month and was surprised about how bad it actually was. It's kind of like a '30s/40s crime movie set in modern day high school, everything about the movie just seemed totally ridiculous and out of place. It probably would've been a good movie if it was set in the '30s or '40s, but the setting just totally didn't work for the movie.

I rented it and fell asleep about 5 minutes into it. Not because I thought it was boring, just besause I was tired.

Well, sir, to be perfectly honest, that just means that you SUCK! :cmad:

I loved it. I also liked the setting because it made it so different and not like a regular noir movie.

The whole hook of the movie is that the style is supposed to be a 30s/40s crime story with a contemporary setting.

Exactly. I really liked this movie. JGL has come a long way from Turd Rock from the Sun. I'm curious to see how he does in "The Lookout."

I'm with AF15, i was saddened that I wasted my Friday night dinner movie on this.

Even sadder when I VOD-ed The Ice Harvest

Even sadder that I was stuck in on a Friday night because I had work early in the morning.

Seriously, nothing clicked for me with this. It annoyed me to death. but here's a little snippet from the conversation me and my buddy had while watching movies that night:
Hilfderk 13 2 87: i heard it was **** too
Hilfderk 13 2 87: but hell, john cusack
Hilfderk 13 2 87: on demand
: yeah
: im gonna watch seraphim falls
Hilfderk 13 2 87: hahahaha if its one things less believable than the whole premise of brick
Hilfderk 13 2 87: its liam neeson and pierce brosnan as cowboys
: hahaha i can agree with that

Thats the whole point of the movie. A 30s/40s noir film set in a modern day high school. If it was in a 30s/40s setting it would be just another noir detective movie.
