Once I would of thought Nicholson would have had no incentive to play the joker again. So good was his deal on the first film, how could they top it? But then I saw his enthusiasm and affection for the character on the spcl edition dvd and I thought maybe it could have happened.

So if in another universe, imagine a reinstated Tim Burton had offered jack 20 million for his favourite charity to play the role again in a batman 4, and he accepted.

How would scriptwriters have brought him back? Any Ideas? (no dream sequences)

Jack Nicholson actually came up with his own idea of how to bring back the Joker. Alas, I don't think it was ever divulged.

Schumacher of course planned to show the Joker appearing in Batman's fear-gas hallucinations in Batman 5.

And the Batman Vs Superman script has, if I recal correctly, the Joker bought back to life somehow.

I wouldn't really care how or even if they explained him coming back to life, it's just Jack as The Joker again, and that's all that would matter.

I always heard the theory that Joker just wasnt dead...like, that wasnt his body they found, he somehow survived and switched bodies with a goon of his or something...like, that was the plan on if they ever brought him back...not like I care, the man once got struck by lightning and fell off a cliff in the comics and came back later that year...lol

him and catwoman could get together.....like in Wolf!

I read a script where Bruce convinced himself that Jack had died, when in fact he was in Arkham for the last 6 years.

Most ways of bringing him back I hear are pretty corny. In '89, I always thought they should have had Joker fall through a tent thing like Catwoman did when Max pushed her down the window. That would have stopped the impact from killing him. Damn Burton for that decision! Then again, it didn't matter much cause Batman 5 was never made anyway. So even if he had survived in Batman'89, we still wouldn't have gotten to see him again lol

Bless Burton for that decision! Some guy with guts not another 'ta dah, surprise twist, I'm the villiain you saw me die but brother... somehow I was never dead!"

That's pretty much what was planned.:ninja:

Yeah, if I recall correctly, Burton mentioned that on the SE. Saying that one of the reasons why he chose to show The Joker dead was to show the audience that he indeed kicked the bucket. Schumacher planned on incorporating Jack in fear toxin sequences for Batman 5, and I think Joker was going to be essentially a clone used as a pawn in the Superman vs Batman movie via Lex Luthor. Would absolutely love to know what exactly Nicholson proposed once upon a time ....

My personal hopeful idea is something I thought Burton would have done justice to, and you introduce a new villain in the process and make him really twisted.

Have Hugo Strange re-animate the Joker's corpse a'la Frankenstein, which makes the Joker physically much stronger (maybe he uses robotics to assist or something) and a tougher challenge for Batman.

The idea's not fleshed out, but it's a start. :-P

Hah. Undead Joker. That'd be worth watching.

R'as Al'Ghul could have dropped him into a Lazarus pit.

Or they could make a "Special EditioN" of the first movie where the Joker's body is never found ;)

That Lazarus pit would require too much exposition and the Special Edition would be a cheap ploy.

It would require no more exposition than there was in the 20 minutes it was on B:TAS.

So it hardly requires any. Chris Nolan be damned, I want my Lazarus Pit!

We all have our own Batman Elseworlds. Original stories for the hero we'd like to make into movies.
