Had Baldwin continued as Jack Ryan how would the franchise turned out?

Say Alec Baldwin had continued to play Jack Ryan how do you think the franchise would have turned out?

You know...as much as I love Harrison Ford I think, Baldwin, was better in the role. When Baldwin played the role he came across as an American version of James Bond. And, I think had Baldwin continued in the role people would have seen the Jack Ryan series as America's answer to England's James Bond. You know? I think it would have made the franchise more interesting.

There was no flow to the character because every actor who played Ryan was VERY different.

I don't think he could have been another Bond but we could have watched Ryan grow and learn.

Also, Harrison Ford was great in the role but the movies revolved too much around Ford's persona. When you watch Patroit Games and Clear & Present Danger it just comes across as a Harrison Ford movie instead of a Jack Ryan movie. You know? Ford was more important than the character he was playing.

Ford is a legend but like Will Smith he tends to dominate movies when its not needed.

Baldwin was also helped by the fact that in Red October Ryan is part of a much bigger picture.

Baldwin played Jack Ryan in 1990. That was 17 years ago! You honestly expected Baldwin to play the role for 17 yrs? He would have done 3 or 4 movies. By `96 he would have been done.
