Brink

What do I think? I think it seems like an interesting game, but I find the character design to be extremely off-putting.

oh i mentioned this on here a while ago in another thread. what I Think is this is a crazier version of TF2. which team fortress 2. which my pro gamer team was playing in tournaments for. the the design was made to be cartoon cause it's let people know this still a game to chill and not take thing so freaking seriously.

it's the first game to use the crysis tech engine. that the crysis and crysis 2 are using.

this is gonna be interesting. this and the agency have similar formats to Tf2 but have a lot of new and different things to add to the table that set them apart from that game.

Here's some stuff from both games

GC 10: Customizing and Classes Interview - Brink

The Agency panel pt.2 [HQ]
The Agency panel pt.2

The Agency panel pt.3 [HQ]
The Agency panel pt.3

the people that'll get this are those that have played Quake or have played TF2 and have/ get the humour. this game is made for jokes sakes.

Well, they should have gone all the way and made the people look like they were from TF2 or Monday Night Combat. Because right now they look like "normal" people, just severely deformed.

no one wants to do that cause It'll be a rip off
and you know how people act once the see some thing is too close to what came first. and copies it completely. Their written off.

The only things they wanted the same is may be how you play a bit( I'm sure their different strategies) and to make cartoon like. but with brink and the agency they want people to create your own design.

No one wants to make a game that's too close to what came before them cause of how some certain people act that'll use that as an excuse to write it off and not play it. if they copy tf2 completely this game is doomed. so they have to set it apart from but make similar enough to get players that only particular to that game to want to try this.

with both brink and the Angency they wanted to make them both cartoon like but add some thing new in the games and show what's set them apart from simlar games as well. The Agency will mostly have spy gadgets and other things since it's a MMO. But has the option that sets it apart of other MMos cause it can set it's self for those people that like to "drop in and out" just coming to shoot things like in TF2 and with this game theres playing the indept story in the MMo.

In brinks case it'll will really be cool game play depending on how you design your character. Like body weight. among other things. and there's a cool story as well. which TF2 doesn't really have. beside it's funny comics.

With brink and the Agency they showed you can design your characters to look how ever you like. unlike TF2 which their all basically the same no matter what colour clothes you have on. and all play the same. With these two they won't be the same case.

oh they they allow for women characters in the Agency. so there's lot's to set the 3 of them apart from each other.

That's not true at all, the player can be customized with different sets of hats and some case like the sniper, a stab proof shield on his back. Making the players look completely different color wise and physical wise would be illogical game play as well as the character wise, as that's what the games uses, characters. Depending on what is used, one person with the same class from another can play completely different. e.g. with the cloak and dagger the spy more or less cloaks and de-cloaks in order to get close to targets. With the dead ringer, the spy cannot cloak until actually hit, making him appear killed but in actuality being cloaked, which needs fully recharged to be used again. It changes the entire dichotomy of how one spy would play from another.

Recently with the Engineer update instead of bulking up a sentry level by level the engineer can now throw one on the fly, move it around as he pleases and directly control it himself, with it being much weaker than other optional sentry.

The player has options, they just aren't piled on for the sake of piling them on.

kez,

I did say I was playing in tournaments for this game and i know what's going down. I was one of the first to get the Engie up date. look when both brink and the angency come out you'll see how different they are. the will be small simularitys that' bring tF2 player like us in and stuff that'll make different from TF2 as well.

Ok now to add a nother new video made to day.

ok I found an article that put up some time earlier in another thread. but it gives examples on what set it apart from TF2. so I'll put up a quote and I'll let you read the rest of that article on you when i put up the fallowing url.

here's the quote
GS AU: Character customization looks to be a huge part of Brink. How much will the body type of your character determine your physical abilities and maneuverability?
RH: The body type you choose for your character has a huge impact on how you play the game. The bigger you get, the stronger you are, which means you can carry and use the biggest, most powerful guns in the game and shrug off more gunfire. But you’re also a lot slower, so you’re always last to the party, and you can barely climb over a three-foot-tall barricade. So you give up a lot of maneuverability for all that firepower.
On the other hand, if you go for the light body type, you’re much faster, can climb up 15-foot-tall walls, do wall jumps, slide farther, and are harder to hit. But you are really physically weak, meaning you can only carry the lighter guns and can’t withstand much damage.
The medium guy, of course, is somewhere in the middle. Everyone starts the game with the medium body type, and as they level up, the option to upgrade to one of the other two becomes available, along with tons of other character abilities.

and here the video on customising the weapons to your own personal spec's that you'd like on them.

E3 2010: Walkthrough - Brink

I'm done on this for tonight.

I'm loving the customization for this. All i'm hoping for is split screen co-op (not sure if its been announced or not)

So just what is the game all about? I mean is it just another shooter with the ability to control both sides of the fight? What gameplay mechanics are gonna set it apart from other shooters.

As far as I can tell, the biggest thing that sets it apart from other shooters mechanically is that it has a traversal mechanic similar to Mirror's Edge.

You play as a fully customizable character for either factions , "Resistance" or "Security", and both the factions include complete story campaigns.

But I think the most unique feature in Brink is that it allows you to seamlessly move between single player, co-op with friends, and intense multiplayer action by a hit on a button.

this especially directed at those that have been complaining about multiplayer. they're woking to change the problem that started the complaints.

Enjoy and discussions in session.

The more I hear about this game and videos I see, the more intrigued I get. Check this out:

No doubt people who pick up Brink mid-May will be a fan of one of the many other FPS games available, and therefore have a prefered button layout. Well, Splash Damage have you covered with a number of different controller schemes that will be familiar from many popular FPS’s. There will be 6 control schemes – or button layouts – for you to choose from in total;

“DUTY CALLS”
“GREEN MARINE CHIEF”
“ZONE OF KILLING”
“OH MY GEARS”
“FIELD OF BATTLE”
“ZOMBIE KILLER”

The eagle-eyed amongst you will instantly be able to recognise that each of those phrases refers to a well-known shooter franchise. For those that don’t, here are the games they refer to:

“CALL OF DUTY”
“HALO”
“KILLZONE”
“GEARS OF WAR”
“BATTLEFIELD”
“LEFT 4 DEAD”

Rest assured that you’ll be able to jump straight into Brink without having to learn a new button layout (which is nice). Brink launches May 17th in North America & May 20th in Europe.

That is an awesome idea and wonder if it will get other devs to do the same in the future.
