First rebooting the unneeded Battlestar Galatica, now...an Excalibur redo!! I guess he's okay with WB after all..

Warner Bros. has closed a rights deal to remake the 1981 “Excalibur,” with Bryan Singer producing and developing the picture as a potential directing vehicle.
Deal comes as Singer gets serious about making the New Line-Legendary co-production “Jack the Giant Killer” his next directing effort, according to sources.
WB and Legendary Pictures have labored for months to pull together the rights to the film, which Singer will produce with Julie Yorn. Polly Johnsen, who was Polly Cohen when she was the WB exec who presided over the Singer-directed WB/Legendary collaboration “Superman Returns,” will also be a producer.

Jesus Christ. At this point, maybe we should just list what Bryan Singer isn't potentially directing. It'll be a shorter list.

Didn't somebody just announce an Excalibur production? Oh yeah, Warren Ellis.

I like Singer.

I really do, but he needs to go back and maybe direct one more small drama. I don't understand his need to touch Battlestar or even Excalibur

(I know it's King Arthur and there's like 100 movies about him but to remake an interpretation of the lore is weird. Why not just make another King Arthur movie then?

Image if Ridley Scott went on to do a 'remake' of Mel Brooks' Robin Hood: Men in Tights as a drama.

So, is Bryan Singer going around signing up for movies he's not gonna direct?

Singer producing Excalibur: Fine.

Singer directing Excalibur: Eh...

I want an Excalibur remake. It's one of the few movies I think deserves one. Singer's not the right guy to direct it, IMO.

I really don't see the point in this, though I suppose it could be a good movie. EXCALIBUR is entertaining to a point, but it isn't THAT good, or terribly faithful to the legend. If they want to make an Arthurian film, fine, but I see no point in rehashing this particular version of events.

The original can't be topped imo. I just don't see a better take on the story than it.

In terms of the story of Excalibur, or the actual Arthurian legend?

Weird..

Not sure if remaking Excalibur is really needed, but an Arthurian movie of epic proportions certainly is!

Is Singer turning into Chev Chelios? Slow the hell down man.

Why call it a remake of Excalibur when it most probably won't even be a remake of that film, but just a another take on the Arthur legend? Crazy Hollywood!

"Hey! You got Bryan Singer in my Excalibur remake!"

"Hey! You got Excalibur in my Bryan Singer!"

"Heeeeeeey!"

How about adapting the Warlord Chronicles. This is truly an epic and realistic retelling of the Arthurian legend. Look it up.

Excalibur been remake too many times IMO and the last one didn't do well

I suppose he did have Xavier and Magneto reading THE ONCE AND FUTURE KING in X2. Maybe he's a big fan of the source material.

Which still doesn't explain why they'd remake EXCALIBUR, so much.

Maybe he'll get Patrick Stewart to reprise his role.

Liam can be who ever he wants.

Liam as Merlin
