Bush Authorized The CIA Leak, Libby Says

Shouldn't the title of this be "Libby says Cheney said Bush authorized CIA leak"?

what's the difference?

Wow. This has the potential to be the thing that gets Bush impeached.

Not gonna happen. Bush could get away with murder, but if Clinton lies it's perjury. How many times did this guy lie to us?

I've lost count. But of course, Bush never lies and no matter what, he's the second coming of Jesus and always does what is right.

:) :)

I'm not sure why people are applauding this so much? It's too far removed to actually touch Bush other than as negative press.

First, without any evidence (like a memo or something) or another witness, it's Cheney's word against Libby's.

Second, even if there is evidence (like a memo from Cheney to Libby) or another witness to Cheney and Libby's conversation, it still only goes as far as Cheney.

Even if it gets Cheney under oath to testify about his role, do you really think he'd take the president down with him... even if it's true? Do you think Cheney would do that to 'the party'? It's one thing if the VP goes down, another if it's the president himself. That would mean there'd also have to be documentary evidence or another witness to Bush and Cheney's conversation.

Somehow, I just don't think that's all gonna happen... even if it's true and Cheney did tell Libby to leak information per authorization of the president.

... and they called Reagan the teflon president. ;)

Yeah but Clinton lied under oath...Bush doesn't take the court oath before stepping up to do his fireside chats or state of the union addresses

It's misleading.

Bush authorized the CIA leak, Libby says

versus

Libby says Cheney said Bush authorized the CIA leak

The former makes it appear Bush and Libby interacted, when what Libby really says is the Cheney told him that Bush authorized it.

There is the possibility that Cheney could have lied to Libby. The first title doesn't allow for that possibility.

eh, it's only a thread on a superhero chat board. it might be a bigger deal if it was the headline for a front page article in the new york times, but i'm okay with how it's phrased here.

at this point in bush's presidency any allegation of wrongdoing on his part is only going to further hurt his approval rating. from what we've seen over the years bush has been kept pretty well isolated from the outside world by the likes of rove and cheney and i'm sure he doesn't take a crap without checking with those guys first. sure, it's only an assumption at this point that he was most likely involved in this leak, but i'm of the mind to believe it until it's proven false. bush has forfeited the benefit of the doubt based on his policy and behaviour up to this point. that's how i see it.

We have a winnar!

Bush has even lost most of his credibility in his own party. :o

And believe me I know, I live in GOPcentral.

Off topic but you can download for free and legally the documentary Going Upriver: The Long War of John Kerry here http://www.freedocumentaries.org/downloadgoingupriver.htm. I searched for the Bush Vietnam documentary but couldn't find Draft Dodging: The Long Line of Coke to Alabama anywhere.

The "liberal" media will not lead with this story tonight, it will be the Senate Immigration Bill Breakthrough! http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/04/06/immigration.ap/index.html
Bush praises Bill, McCain says get 'er done!

yeah, i've already seen that kerry documentary. it's pretty good. he is a smart and talented guy, he's just not very politically savvy. i'm really looking forward to that bush doc. :)

i'm sure the republicans decided to stage the immigration bill breakthrough just to take the heat off ol' w. ;)

Kerry was an idiot. Next to Ted Kennedy, he was the absolute worst candidate the dems could have produced. There are a ton of other, more worthy dems that should have run against Bush, and who would have easily won.

It was a worse against worst campaign, and Kerry was, by far, the 'worst'. Quit acting like Kerry was a frickin angel. He brought about his own political demise. He didn't need any help from the republicans.
Agreed, Kerry was a terrible candidate, but I don't think he was worse than Bush in the ideological sense. He was inferior as a candidate though, no doubt.

Really? My mom was born in Tyler, Texas. I've been down there three times and I've always enjoyed the weather, the mall, and there's a store called Brookshures(spelling?).

And yet he's apparently ramping up to make another run...

I just fantasized about Bush getting impeached, and hung in another country for war crimes, while the hanging is broadcast on all the major networks and gets coverage for weeks. It'll never happen, but one can dream. :(

The thing is, Bush was NEVER a good candidate. His name was good. If he were George Smith and not George Bush he would be unelectable to a city council yet alone president of the United States.

Can we just execute Bush and Cheney and be done with it? *sigh*

Answer your door. It's the G.

Even if it is proven that Bush and Cheney were directly responsible for the CIA leak all it might do is lower his approval rating a few percentage points. Big freaking deal.

I don't know what's going to be worse in 08', putting up with a democrat president or listening to the republicans whine.
