Butler Plays Game with Crank Creators

Game moves to Summer 2009

It is getting to the point where I wonder if ANYTHING will be released this fall and winter season. First Harry Potter gets pushed back to summer 2009 and Rocknrolla might not come out in October, and then Gerrard Butler starrer Game gets bumped out too!

Producer Gary Lucchesi told SciFi Wire that Game has been pushed back to the increasingly crowded summer of 2009.

Game is a futuristic thriller directed by the insane duo of Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, and stars the ever-so-lovely Gerard Butler. While he’s reason enough to see it, it’s also the kind of frantic, maniacal movie making we’ve come to expect from Neveldine and Taylor. We were treated to some footage at ComicCon, and it was a hell of a lot of fun.

I wonder about these moves and try to figure out what the Hollywood Machine is thinking with this. I mean this summer has been DOMINATED by superhero flicks and next year promises to be much the same, so why take an already crowded summer movie season and drop even MORE films in it. Especially when those films are already slated for earlier release.

John has had Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor on Uncut a couple times and these guys seem to be all about this movie. Even John got a sneak peak at it and can’t wait to see it all come down.

So is this it. Some select movies moving into the dorm of 2009? Or does everyone want their movie out next summer instead?

The guy writing that article is a bit clueless, there is only one superhero movie next summer and it is the least packed summer for years, hence why Potter was pushed back. I read the reason this has been moved back is visual effects work, could be they are hoping to be a summer R rated action hit like 'Wanted' though.
 
Definitely a little sad about the push. But we're less than a year away from the film, and we'll have some footage soon, I'm assuming.
 
they really need to changet the title to something else. There's already "The Game" by Fincher.
 
Saw the trailer, It looks pretty good, love the concept and idea, and the movie looks like all sorts of badass, but the trailer didn't get me hyped up alot for the movie, I still want to see it, but rather see another trailer maybe in english with dialogue.

Epic. Looks like the love child of The Running Man and Death Race, not to mention
better than Terminator Salvation!

I think it looks like garbage in truth, just noisy and crass, kinda like the duo's Crank films.
 
While I enjoyed the 1st Crank film, this doesn't look very good.
