Bye-Bye, UMD....

It just wasn't a good idea, but a lot of things are hit and miss. Handhelds could've gone the same reason if it were for a world of THWIP*'s, but thankfully people can accept gaming on a screen less than a 55" monitor.

HANDHELDS HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR ABOUT 20 YEARS.......I GOT MY HDTV LAST MARCH. I JUST NEVER ENJOYED HANDHELD, OR OTHER MINIATURE GAMES, BECAUSE THEY ONLY COMPOUND MY MIGRAINES.

UMD's faliure. You said the picture looked good , inferring that its everyone else who was wrong and that its actually a great format.

No I didn't. I just said that to people who were like "Why watch a movie on small screen omg". It wasn't a decent format by it's own virtues for anything besides playing movies on a PSP which makes it a horrible format overall and being overpriced and often not including extra content while charging full DVD price for a movie made it a stupid format.

There's a lot more to what makes a good format then screen quality.

My point is, no market is limited to any one person's ideals. You say they (umds) should've failed because of the size of the screen? They could've worked in spite of that.

My problem was the lack of hardware support. You're buying software that only has one output: a PSP? And then, they're pricey? Lastly, they're cropped? Nope. Not gonna be that effective.
