Can a cellphone get a virus?

Does it have the swine flu? Did you get bacon near the mouthpiece?

No, I've been eating bacon to build up immunities. Seriously, can they get like computer viruses? If so, Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith, I'm not really trying to take over the world.

Yes, but in order for this to happen someone has to program the virus to attack cellphones, this is very difficult. Cellphone viruses are theoretically possible, but I've never seen one or heard of it.

Every once in a while, my phone screen will go all kind of fuzzy like the snowy channels on TV and just turn off. When I turn it back on, the words are scrambled. Then I turn it off and then back on, and everything is back to normal.

Did you drop, bang, smash, knock or bruise it? Is everything in the place it should be as far as you can tell?

That's the extent of my expertise, hope you figure it out.

What kinda phone?

It's a motorola. But I'm basing my knowledge of computer viruses on what I've seen in the Sandra Bullock movie The Net.

Means you know slightly less than a caveman. :oldrazz:

If I were you I'd just take it back to your cellphone company's place. They can probably do a complete reset to get rid of any viruses or figure out what actually is going on.

maybe one of those geico cavemen could fix it. They seem smart enough.

Yes it is very much a possibility, especially now with most recent mobiles running full fledged operating systems on them. What do you have?

Anyways, here is a bit of info. The first virus was seen in 2004. And this article shows you that it is not such a rare thing.

Face it folks, the more our phones start acting like computers, the more common this occurrence will be. This is why Windows has so many more virus attacks than systems like Macs. Its not because one is safe or less safe than the other, but that Windows is more popular so people will write more viruses for Windows.

Dont pick it up, or use it in anyway. I've read Stephen King's Cell, I know what will happen to you if you do.

Yes, phones can get Viruses. There is actually a Worm out on Jail Broken iPhones right now.

It's just a plain old motorola. But I'm in the store now getting a new Blackberry with pearls.

If a planet can get a fever I think a cellphone can get a virus. Enjoy the pearl necklace you get with your Blackberry.....
