What I'd like, if possible, is to be able to find a good download site that lets me download the top hits of particular years. That's one thing lacking that I've seen with download sites as of so far.

For example, I could start off with 1950 and then move into 1951, than 1952 and so on, until I've gotten into the present era, with whatever is enjoyable to my ears.

I like all forms of music, from rock to country, to classical, and whatever.

Much appreciated.

just wiki the top hits of each year

then download them on limewire!

Thanks AM.

I know Billboard has a top hit list, but it only goes back to 1958 and there's some not-so-bad stuff from 1950 to 1958.

I tried wikiing it, but it didn't work.

I get all my music from YouTube or Myspace.

Soulseek and The Pirate Bay.

With the latter, use µtorrent

Although I really appreciate the nutsie site, you'd think that the music industry would try and make it as easy to find the music I want, considering all the harping they do about how it should be done legally.

Download audacity for free. Then just record an audiofile of whatever is playing on your computer.

Ruckus. But you can only use it if you have a college e-mail address and you cant burn the files or put them on an mp3 player.

Or you can type an artist name followed by "megaupload or "mediafire" into Google and get download links people have posted.

iTunes Music Store.

Or Amazon.com They have a pretty comprehensive MP3 download site. Pretty much any album they sell in hard copy form they have it cheaper as an MP3 download.

Plus it's DRM free unlike iTunes.

I looked at both Itunes and Amazon.

They don't have the ability, so far as I've found, to find music by the year.

It seems obvious to me at least, that some consumers would love to have an entire genre of music right from a certain year forward. It would seem elementary to include that as an option.

Limewire completely SHAT on my last computer, so yeah, I stay away from that or any other program that you need to install in order to download music. Right now I usually download songs from various sites using Real Player, but up until I was aware I could even do that I uuused:

mp3raid.com & myzuka.ru (THE best. Bless the Russians)

So, email those in as suggestions for their search functions.

You can download files that contain every number one for every week since the 50's on sites like isohunt and piratebay.

archive.org (not sure if that's the actual address) should have it. It has a ton of old audio crap, from ancient african folk songs to the old Superman radio show.
