How I Feel About Moderating...

I find a lot of people confuse socialist sweaters with communist cardigans...

It's time for Red Party Cardis at Old Navy

Yes....there are 100 of us....all you have to do is go to VIEW FORUM LEADERS on the front page and it will show you the names of all 100 of the.....uh, what's that, there are only 17 mods and 5 Administrators listed.....how could that be....everyone is up in arms that there are 100 mods, but only 17 are listed....it must be a conspiracy....they are lying to us....oh wait....I'm a mod....so I must be lying to you....yeah, that's the ticket......

There are 17 mods http://forums.superherohype.com/showgroups.php several of whom generaly stay mostly in one or two forums and a couple who haven't been on much at all of late.

There are 10 Administrators listed....2 are the owners SUPERHEROHYPE and EXCELSIOR who don't really participate in the day to day shenannigans here, but pop in for special occasions....and 3 are just technical background people that don't post at all....which leaves 5 day to day Admins of which several (like Dew said in a previous post in here) don't make it around that much lately due to something called life.

I am floored that so many thought that we actually had 100 mods. When did the art of sarcasm become lost on this board? :csad:

You, my dear, are on to some pretty major things right now though. Just remember us little people when you are interviewed on Oprah. :o

Pregnant hippos? Fascist pants? This is becoming a very odd thread.

Everything I create here becomes odd. You know this. :whatever:

I think LS had one too many Skittle shots and chocolate cake shots. He must have been at his most vulnerable when he typed this. I picture a scene from Oz when reading the original post.

Actually, I had just had angry sex. So yes, I was feeling quite vulnerable and naked and sensitive and ****. How did you know? :csad:

*checks to make sure cam is off*

I haven't found modding has encroached on my ability to post for fun, that was key for me, beyond that I like being able to help posters out if I can, the "I'm immune to any rules" types can be annoying but I find the good far outweighs the bad here and most are reasonable.

I just know that LS has big saucer nips and that he is like the emo version of Taimak from The Last Dragon.

C'mon, they are not that big. :whatever: And why do I have to be Taimak?

I changed my avatar just for Knowsbleed. He loves it.

"Modus Operandi"

Damn I love that term, the way it rolls of the tongue. C'mons guys say it with me...

modus operandi.

That's kinda hot. Sounds French.

Agreed. Although I think I've had a bit of change in my approach to modding. The first time I joined the staff back in 2005 I was totally into the business of moderating. Almost like a policeman. I was all about the rules--and I was looking for people's mistakes. Instead of enjoying what we were talking about (the Marvel films that were coming out at the time) I found myself scanning through pages and pages of threads looking for errors. Answering every distress call with unmitigated passion. It wasn't very enjoyable. Why? Because I had somewhat lost my balance: I was no longer a Hypester, but more like a Hype Cop. :csad:

But over the years I learned that as I got more comfortable in the role, it was totally possible to strike a balance between working for the Hype populace and with the Hype populace. When I came back the second time I was determined to be a Mod of the Peoples. To be myself. There's just no reason to check your personality at the door and alienate your friends here just because you have an assignment to carry out. I haven't banned anyone since my return and it's mostly because I've been able to reason with most folks to settle down...and they know I'm trying to give them a chance to straighten up.

Besides, harrassing these knuckleheads in Community have given me immense pleasure. I wouldn't trade it for the world. Everyone is so damn silly and sensitive and I love it. :)

They certainly do. Like that time in the FF forum everyone started posting pictures of kittens to cook in a giant kitty soup...good times :woot:

Ah, I remember the kitten-killing group. Such a sad state of affairs those times were.

Ok... a cross between Taimak and Mike Epps.

Oh wow, now it's even worse. Mike has gap teeth. :csad:

Dew, you know that I feel exactly the same way. However, I think it's time for me to hang up my hat instead of holding on to a position where I am not able to fulfil my responsibility due to my irregular and prolong absence.

Where are all the mods? Where's Dog Lips? Where's Dew? Where's AndThePickles... oh wait. Where's Bella... oh wait. And why are they still on the payroll?

I was told about the Admin Incentive Program by a certain dog faced lip freak. I'd query about it if I were you.
