it's not being remade guys. if this is all true, gearbox is FINISHING the game. the work that 3D-Realms did is still there. Gearbox is simply putting the finishing touches on it.

What I'm wondering is why? Gearbox is working on Colonial Marines, a rumored Halo game, and probably Borderlands 2. Their plate is full enough without having to deal with some other studio's abortion.

i never heard of the Halo game thing but Duke Nukem was nearly finished before 3D Realms went bankrupt and had to shut down. there isn't much work left on it.

Anyway, yeah...Gearbox will just be finishing it up (maybe fine tuning it a bit) so I don't see this taking up TO much of their time away from anything else.

I actually knew nothing about Duke Nukem as a game character or series until I heard about this crazy development cycle a few months ago and became instantly interested. I'll wait for reviews (if it actually comes out) though because 13 years of development can't be a good thing lol

Borderlands has made me a huge fan of Gearbox and anything they do.

Yep...and probably allowed them to expand they're roster too, so having more people to work on more stuff seems plausible.

And I dunno if they're already working on Borderlands 2. I guess conceptualizing it could be in the works, but they're still busy cranking out DLC.

It's almost unbelievable how this thing won't die.

Nice. I really am looking forward to it for multiple reasons, not only the long wait, I just want to see an "old school" shooter brought back. Not worried of tyring to be realistic by allowing only 2 weapons or so forth. I am crossing my fingers.

LOL I still have my old PC Gamer's from '98 and the big one in '99 that had the big unveiling of it using the Unreal engine.

Yes I did. But if you've been through 13 years of false starts and leads for a long time, your iffy about DNF. I posted on the boards over there with George teasing us for over a decade lol. Yea I'll always be paranoid about it until I see it and its in my hands.

The game is being finished by Gearbox Software and will be published by Take-Two Interactive, maker of the “Grand Theft Auto” series. The game is being shown to consumers and the press for the first time at a video game convention today. Gearbox hopes to release the game next year.
