Soapy made a thread on this a couple of weeks back.
Anyway, Shogun 2 gets my vote, wonderul, epic, educational game with unrivaled visuals/scale and practically endless replay value. Wonderful game. Wonderful.

Yeah, well, the search function is kinda dead right now :cmad:

EDIT: Or at least it was dead when I started making this thread :(

Well, I didn't vote last time because I hadn't played Uncharted 3.
But now that I did, the year is over for me regarding games.

My vote goes to Batman Arkham City.

Hippie Hunter you **** up, you haven't put Dark Souls on the list.

**** sake HH, get in ****ing gear. Jesus ****ing christ man.

Just kidding. I don't care, although I really liked the game.

No Saints Row, I'm shocked
Batman Arkham City

Cool story...i only played two of those games...Dead Space II (which i played and finished last sunday) and Gears 3.

Loved both, big fan of both franchises....went with DS2...just because...

Yea i really, really loved Dead Space 2. It was topped only by Batman and Skyrim for me. But all 3 were deff close.

Massive  for all the Dead Space 2 love.

Skyrim - Buggy. Game breaking bugs. Terrible UI. Unbalanced, about half way through leveling up you might as well have "god mode" on.

Dead Space - Walk into a room, wait for monster to jump out. Kill. Walk into a room, wait for a monster to jump out. Kill. Become over-powered towards the end of the game exactly like first one.

Seems pretty clear.

I say Uncharted 3.
Gears 3 was my favorite, followed by Arkham City but I think the actual best amde game was Uncharted 3. Amazing set pieces, amazing graphics, cool story. For me it had it all

The best experiences I've had this year were:
Mortal Kombat
Portal 2
Skyrim
Dark Souls

And I think when it comes down to it, for me, it's between Dark Souls and Skyrim. I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed Dark Souls, it's such a well realized open world and really challenging. But in the end, it's hard to top Skyrim as an immersive and full game.

So, Skyrim it is.

No one asked your opinion.

You seem to have mistaken a gaming discussion for Saudi Arabia.

Good example of the design problems in Skyrim.

Does being able to do this make the game more immersive? Not from what I can see. For the most part, it is just jarring with the opposite effect. When we say "able" you actually, aren't able. Because it is deliberately linear in nature not allowing you to cancel the quest line. Weirdly, this isn't the case for everyone. Sometimes it cancelled a quest line, sometimes it doesn't, allowing you to power level. It's very odd. I think just not allowing you to attack them at all would result in the game being immersive. At least the very strange resetting AI wouldn't exist. I really think critics should have picked up on that. This is just my opinion, obviously. Which is why I would put Shogun 2, Portal 2 and probably Saints Row 3 ahead of it.

Another very good game (that has design problems also) is Sonic Generations. This game for the price it was being sold at, roughly about half the price of other retail games, was terrific value. Wonderful game. Wonderful.

Play it like the like the big boys, in Zealot difficulty, and then we talk about becaming over-powered towards the end.

Even so, it's your opinion...it's wrong, but i respect it....but it's wrong....WRONG......DEAD WRONG!!! (see what i did there? ;))

Along with Skyrim I think Dead Space 2 is probably one of the most overrated games of the year. Third person doom 3.

Dead Space 2 is brilliant in terms of the story it tells, its pacing and its atmosphere. I get completely engrossed in that game while playing it, the rest of the world is pretty much cut off to me. We can argue about the technical bits all we want but that's genuinely how it made me feel and I absolutely bloody love it for that.

But if it's not your thing, sure.
