Just wondering with all the political threads lately, how many posters are of voting age and registered to vote. I know I am.

Hey, lookit me! I'm gonna start controversy!

I don't vote. It's a waste of time.

Voting is meaningless.
It's pretend game they let everyone play to keep them pacified.

On the national level, the guy who won the most votes can lose.
On a local level, lol, I remember in S.L.C., they had a vote about some big issue and everyone voted against it. But the gov. wanted it,so they had another vote, and everyone voted against it again.
So they had another vote, and  the "pro" side won by a few votes and they went ahead with the project.

Uh, I voted on this poll. What does that make me?

oh, yeah....our system is messed up......But, it's still better than goverment a la North Korea.

And when it does work, it works gooood:o (Barak Obama for President 2008)

That's meaningless.

"Good" is relative, as is "works" in this case.

Example: The issue of a possible draft.

I, personally, am against a draft. I don't want to die for "America" or "Freedom" or whatever B.S. that's being spewed by the government.

Someone else may support a draft, stating that it'd help our great land prevail over the Godless terrorists, and force the wimps who haven't volunteered for service become valuable members of society, or be cowards and run to Canada.

If a draft was passed, I'd be upset (and Canadian), but the other guy would say that "Democracy worked" and that it was "good".

BTW, Democracy's greatest flaw is the inherent stupidity of the masses.

I registerd this year on my 18th bithday and I'm gonna try it come Novemeber. If I don't like it that's it

good point...and the draft is worthless. Wouldn't work today; any Pres. who authorized it would commit political suicide for his party.

For all the b****ing you do about politics you should be the first in line to vote Wilhelm. ;)

The main reason America is in the state it is today is because the younger generation has this "it wont matter anyway" attitude.

If the younger generation decided to get off their arses and actually make their voice heard by voting, if nothing else, it would create evidence of exactly how broken and corrupt our system is.
There would be no way of covering up what majority of America truly wants. Let the riots begin.

Im seriously tired of the "teachers out to get me so it doesnt matter what grade I get on the test" attitude.

Want to talk about emo? People that b**** about politics and dont vote, feigning corrupt political oppression...thats the definition.

Too bad they are the ones voting instead of people like you right? :whatever:

The masses are easily swayed, and those in power like to abuse that trust.

And even if I did vote, who would I vote for? Most likely someone qualified for the job of leading a country. Too bad the people who would be the best leaders are the same people who are the least likely to persue political power.

Wilhelm and SuperFerret

I don't vote and never will.

I'm realizing that I came off as a jerk, and for that I am sorry.

I do feel that the voting process is flawed, and utterly useless due to that flaw.

I'm old enough, but I haven't registered yet. I definitely plan to, though.

I was registered...and I will be again shortly. I changed my address so I had to get a new card. Anyway, the president may not be elected directly...and I do have a big problem with that...but I vote anyway. I'm glad most other positions are elected directly.

There are a lot of other things to vote for besides president.

I didnt feel you came off as a jerk. I agree, its flawed, which is why we have to do everything in our power to change it considering voting is pretty much the only thing most have to effect change.
No matter how flawed it is no difference will ever be made with apathy.

If enough people vote and those votes go unanswered it creates a legal reason for investigation and uproar. You have to play the game to change the rules.

Hmm...

This is good time to let you know that nothing you say is ever taken seriously by anyone anymore...
