Cancelled

I really liked the show and thought it deserved another series.

I´ll admit that I thought the guy playing Blader wasn´t good enough but since the show wasn´t about him it managed to be very entertaining.

I can´t say that I will boycott Spike TV for this since I don´t live in the US but I sure would if did.

Good. Maybe now they will start making watchable comic book tv series.

What I find hilarious is when the show was on only a handful of people posted here during the episodes. Now there is suddenly a crap load of people that gives a damn about the show when it gets cancelled :wow:

Yeah, and a lot of people coming out of the woodwork to mock it who obviously never watched that much of it. :p

What a shocker!
Blade was an entertaining show to watch and it's too bad Spike didn't give this show another season and chance to grab more viewers through reruns and dvd rentals.

Good, this show was crap from th' start. I rather watch th' first 2 movies over and over than suffer through another episode of this.

It did start off rough, but it got expontentially better as it went on.

...damn it.

Maybe they'll pull a Family Guy/Futurama. Who knows.

And it's not like they've got anything else going for them. How far can wrestling & reruns of CSI carry them?

Philly's top 5 list of mistakes leading to Blade being cancelled:

1. Needed a network other than Spike. This network just didn't have the money or experience needed to pull off a long term series.

2. Needed a less serial based storyline. I know guys that missed a few shows and gave up on the series because of how much much the story required you to see every episode.

3. Should have learned from Blade: Trinity that story should have been primarily about Blade and his background. The best episode for me was "Bad Blood" -- there needed to be more of these themed shows and less episodes trying to build up the Krista character.

4. The lead was the weakest link. Sticky showed some improvement as the show progressed but not enough to overcome how much better the show would have been with an actor like MJW as Blade.

5. Where were the cameos by other Marvel characters that they promised? This may seem like a minor gripe but look at how shows like Smallville, Lois & Clark etc. introduced characters from the comics. In retrospect, by having a cameo every few episodes Goyer could have helped generate some added interest in the series.

The cameos-unless they were occult-based characters-wouldn't have worked.

If this is confirmed, it probably means the end of Blade Hype! I just don't see anything else happening with the franchise. Perhaps they should make an animated series.

There's always the DVD set. Beyond that, yeah.

A la "Spawn"? Because that's the only way it'll have a hope of working.:ninja:

Since they cancelled Blade, they might as well cancel Spike. Spike is for rednecks and Blade should have never been on that station. This sucks HARD. This was a GREAT show. As poorly as it started, it consistently got better EVERY episode. I LOVED the season finale and i was excited to see more. Looks like Spike goes back to being the toilet bowl of cable t.v.

It definitely was rough around the edges at the beginning but I think it picked itself up well in the last half of the season to warrant a second outing. Arghhh, I was really warming up to the series.

Same here. Like I said, I'm done with Spike. Morons.:cmad:

The one good thing that can come of this is that maybe Goyer will get serious about making The Flash now.

Would you want Spike to still hold the rights though? With a few changes to this series and a new network this show could still work.

i have to agree with this. it was a tough watch at the beginning and the stories did get a little better, but just watching jones play blade was so painful.
that HORRIBLE tough voice he spoke in was unbearable. i think the best actress was the girl who played chase.

i also kind of wish they would bring it back for a 2nd season to see if the writing and the acting got a little better. there were maybe two episodes towards the end that showed some potential.

oh well... it is what it is.

That's no consolation at all.

You call that a good thing? Ryan Reynolds as Flash, directed and written by Goyer is a cinematic abortion waiting to happen.
