I know every one thinks caps shield is in Iron Man but if you can zoom in on the shield you will notice that it looks like part of a machine and that its not even a complete star. Im not saying its not caps shield just that i dont believe it is. I know the comic for the movie tried to justify it and wizard even had a comment about it but ive never heard any one officialy say yep thats his shield. i honestly think its just some machine bits. If anyone knows better please post away.:bomb:

if you look closly at it the "Star" looks like its floating above the rest of it. Same thing as the outer ring it doesnt look like its a part of it

Favreau said that's the a shield, a version of it at least.

really. that is so strange to me. Well thanks for the update. i hate being left in the dark

No problem.

It's basically implied that Cap "dies" with his shield because of the deleted scene in TIH.

When we first broke the news that Captain America's shield could be found in Iron Man, which was preceded by Marvel's announcement of The First Avenger: Captain America movie for 2011, speculation began as to how exactly the movies would play out and how it would all eventually converge into The Avengers. In a recent update, numerous websites caught up with Marvel's Kevin Feige as part of an early promotion for The Incredible Hulk. Not only did he speak on all of Marvel's upcoming films, but he confirmed some details regarding Captain America and The Avengers. First things first, he did confirm Cap's shield was in Iron Man and went on to say that the Matthew McConaughey rumor was not true. And if that weren't enough, he mentioned that The First Avenger: Captain America would be set in World War II, meaning they're following the actual comic origin story pretty closely.

Do you think they will go with the deleted scene in the hulk as far as history in the films is concerned or think they will ignore it since its a deleted scene

Hi PumpinBomb, it's definately the shield sitting behind DJ, but agree it does look like the star is "floating" & the shield is not fully built. It's more then likely ether a high tech prototype that TS is working on or more likely he's pulled the original shield apart to use the technology for his suit.

Anyway here's a snapshot

But why Stark was building the shield is completely beyond me.

well they can say he was using plans for cap's shield for stark tech, or maybe his father had a hand in its creation.

I've been wondering for a few weeks if we might see Gerard Sanders return as Howard Stark in Captain America.

Apparantely the Iron Man comic that went with the movie, suggests that Stark's dad helped design Cap's first shield. The one we see in the film is a prototype he made and TS used the same metals to make the Mark III armor.

I think because Tony's dad helped build Caps shield. (movie verse that is)

That's how I feel as well. I think Stark was working on it to finish what his father had started. Sort of like the hot rod he was working on near the beginning of the film before he leaves for his flight to the Middle East.

I know some people discredit things said or done in the novels based on films but in the Iron Man novel it mentions that hot rod was the last thing him and his father were working on together before he died. It also says how he always purposely finds something wrong with it to take it apart and start over because he doesn't want to finish it for sentimental reasons.

It could have just been thrown in there with no purpose other than being a surprise for fans/fanboys just for the hell of it but it might have been in there as another purposeful nod to the eventual Avengers film.

I'm thinking we might only see the triangular shield in the Cap film. And that the round shield will be a more high-tech Stark built weapon that Cap will use in the modern time.

I read that mini-comic that came with the DVD. That's exactly what they claim. Stark dug in to his father's old work to perfect the armor. Fits perfectly together.

yea that was a cool scene. But ultimately was cut for its reasons, plus at the time captain america film wasnt in full production stages/story fleshed out so things changed.

So do we know if that TIH deleted scene is movie canon? Because for some reason, I was thinking we were gonna get the vintage shield in this movie. And based on what we know about the shield in Iron Man, I thought that Cap would just get frozen before he would have ever gotten to use the round shield Howard Stark designed for him, and that's why Tony still has it. Have they said if we're getting the vintage (non-circular) shield at all in this movie?

I'd like the "Superman badge" shaped shield in TFA:CA. Then the appearance of the circular shield in The Avengers would be all the more impactful.

flick for all purposes the TIH deleted opening isnt in cannon to the film verse. and we wont know for sure to we see how cap is frozen and discovered. As for the round Cap shield in ironman, i believe the tie in comics state its a prototype model his father howard stark made. So stark took the properties that created the shield to create his armor. So i am sure we will probably see both shields in the film. I would say maybe go with the triangle shield for USO and when he first goes awol. Then if from when he is awoled - the rest of the film if we are going through a few yrs here and we see him on actual missions for the allies to be given the round shield for a third of the film.

Sounds good to me.
