:awesome:

This just came in from SFX.co.uk

We all know Joss Whedon loves using the same actors again and again, so what parts could he find for his troupe if he does get the Avengers gig?

The Scarlet Witch: Alyson Hannigan
Well, she played a white witch who became a dark witch in Buffy. The Scarlet Witch went from good to bad-ass in the Marvel universe. So Hannigan’s a shoe-in. And she has the right colour hair…

The Beast: Seth Green
Okay, the Beast has been played on screen already by Kelsey Grammer, but we reckon we need younger Beast. And Green – who was, of course, a werewolf in Buffy – is used to playing hairy guys.

Yellowjacket: Alexis Denisof
And when we say Yellowjacket, of course, that covers Giant-Man, Ant-Man and Goliath as well, because this is one of the few superheroes who is more defined as a character by by his alter-ego – Dr Hank Pym – than any of his masked, size-changing secret identities. So, who could play the slightly dodgy, always-on-the-edge-of-a-nervous-breakdown super scientist? The man who was Wesley Wyndham-Price in Angel and Buffy we reckon.

Hawkeye: Alan Tudyk
The purple-clad archer and ex-crim always had a bit of a mouth on him (okay, he could be a downright jerk sometimes), and tended to get into arguments with Captain America about leadership decisions. Tudyk would be perfect. Apart from the fact that he’s played a pilot in Firefly with a superhuman sense of precision (handy for being an ace arrow man) he’s proved as Alpha in Dollhouse that he go from villain to hero…

Ms Marvel: Dichen Lachman
Hell, we’d just like to see Lachman in anything… she was one of the one best things about Dollhouse. Besides, Ms Marvel has a long convoluted history of different incarnations, alter egos and alternate superhero identities (all far too complicated to go into here) and that’d be no trouble for someone used to playing different personalities each week.

Quicksilver: James Marsters
The former Buffy and Angel vampire with the geometric cheekbones would be perfect for the haughty, angular-faced East European speedster with the silver locks. And Marsters is well used to dying his hair and using dodgy accents.

The Black Panther: Chiwetel Ejiofor
Just look at the way Ejiofor moves in Serenity – there’s something very feline and regal about the guy, perfect for the Wakandan prince with the black leotard fetish.

Moondragon: Amy Acker
Anyone else fancy the idea of a bald Amy Acker? Well, if she’s ready to spend a whole series with scars on her face for Dollhouse, surely she’s shave her locks for the Whedonmeister? And as the emotionless, ass-kicking llyria in Angel she proved she could cut it as the telepathic martial artist with the superiority complex.

The Wasp: Sumer Glau
Well, she was a flighty young thing in Firefly, with a bit of a sting, as we discovered in Serenity. And there was a real buzz about her in The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Okay, we’ll stop now. But she does have very big eyes…

Namor, The Submariner: Daniel Dae Kim
Well, the Prince Of Atlantis has always looked slightly oriental to us, and former Angel actor Kim has a brilliant scowl (developed over six years of being damp and miserable in Lost) that suits the ansty Prince Of Atlantis. And like the rest of the cast of Lost, he also needed to get used to being soaked through a lot.

The Vision: Tahmoh Penikett
We’re not trying to say anything about Penikett’s acting talents when we say he’s make a great emotionless android. No really. We’re just basing this choice on the shape of his head.

Hellcat: Eliza Dushku
We’re sure Joss is definitely already thinking of ways of getting Dushku in a leather cat suit… whether he’s directing The Avengers or not.

Jarvis: Anthony Stewart Head
The Avengers’ butler is quintessentially English. And who’s quintessentially English and on Joss’s speed dial? From Giles to Jarvis… it has to happen!

After reading that, SFX can get bent.
Seriously, all those Buffy and Angel actors? WTF. Even if Whedon loves them, that seriously isn't cool.

Apart from Anthony Head.
But he's just awesome.

Oooh, Chiwetel Ejiofor! Yes please! I didn't even count him as a Whedon alum, but he's one of my favorite actors, so I'd be thrilled to have him in the movie in any capacity.

All these "Whedon alums" are just jokes for the most part, though Ejiofor makes a ton of sense for Black Panther. Whedon really only has to cast maybe 5 or 6 parts for this film since the others are already done. He is basically looking at the Pyms, Hawkeye, Black Panther (if used), and any side villian that may have not been introduced in one of the previous movies. Here are my choices:

Hawkeye - Jeremy Renner. Obviously been mentioned a lot, but he just makes a great soldier/special ops guy. It fits him very well and he has a certain swagger.

Hank Pym - Noah Wyle. I have always thought he was a pretty talented actor and he can do the smart, self-absorbed, and sometimes goofy character really well.

Janet van Dyne - Ginnifer Goodwin. I think she has a very wholesome look but at the same time can play a strong willed woman.

Black Panther - Chiwetel Ejiofor. This should be his role, nuff said.

That SFX article - I direct you to the top post of the page.

Noah Wyle - No. Just no.

Ginnifer Goodwin - Who the hell is Ginnifer Goodwin?

Chiwetal Ejiofor - Djimon Hounsou might have something to say about that.

I always thought Wyle was the bright spot on ER and I really liked him in Pirates of Silicon Valley. Admittedly, I haven't seen him anything recently, but he can play intelligent and smarmy very well.

Ginnifer Goodwin is has been in Big Love and other supporting roles in movies like Walk the Line.

Hounsou is almost 50, his opportunity to play Black Panther has come and gone.

Let Wyle stick to those stupid Librarian movies. There are much better choices for smarmy and intelligent.

Nope. Still don't know who she is.

Even at 60, Hounsou would still be perfect for the role.

But Ejiofor's the better actor of the two (Honsou's good though), so given the choice, I'd choose him in a heartbeat.

I see Whedon casting the same way Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino cast their projects. They're not obsessed to casting their fave actors in all of their movies, but if they see them fit a role, they'll cast them.

There will be a big difference here, though. Rodriguez and Tarantino made most of their projects as independent films, with complete control. Doesn't seem too likely that Marvel will just let Joss have free reign with their franchise to cast all his buddies.

Again, Rodriguez and Tarantino didn't cast their studio movies with their buddies from their Indie movies. I wouldn't say that Whedon's buddies are a shoe in for the roles, but I wouldn't discount them from the running.

I like Noah Wyle. Poor guy just stuck with ER too long. I thought he was good in Pirates of Silicon Vally as well. I think he is in a Spielberg produced scifi series that is coming out for TNT.

and with all those credits, how many were the leads/stars of those films?

Seriously, most of those parts are one maybe two lead or supporting role per actor, and bit parts in the rest of the movies.

Those may be friends of his but there were just as many fresh faces in his movies as returning faces.

And Sam Jackson was in Inglorious Basterds? Who/Where was he in the movie?

Yeah, but the parts for The Avengers that are still being talked about are hardly the leads in the film. Even if those weren't already cast, Marvel wouldn't have let Joss put Alexis Denisof in as Iron Man or something silly like that.

Sam Jackson was the Narrator.

True, but I don't think it'd be so out of the blue for Whedon to cast one of his alum as some B or C list characters if not a couple of A list characters.
I'm still unsure of how Munn was cast in Iron Man 2, and was brought back after her original character was cut, and was replaced with another character. It seems like a Favreau doing a friend a favor thing.

Ah, I barely remember the narrator in the movie, the visuals and acting were just that great to me.

Captain America/Steve Rogers - Chris Evans.
Iron Man/Tony Stark - Robert Downey Jr.
Thor - Chris Hemsworth.
Hulk/Bruce Banner - Edward Norton.
Black Widow/Natasha Romanov - Scarlett Johansson.
Hank Pym - Guy Pierce.
Janet Pym - Morena Baccarin.
Phil Coulson - Clark Gregg.
Nick Fury - Samuel L. Jackson.
Virginia ''Pepper'' Potts - Gwyneth Paltrow.
Betty Ross - Liv Tyler.
Col. James Rhodes - Don Cheadle.
Gen. Thaddeus Ross - William Hurt.
Abomination/Emil Blonsky - Tim Roth.
Loki - Tom Hiddlestom.

Wow. It takes some effort to use fifteen lines and only provide two names that aren't already cast.

I'm not sure how the whole Olivia Munn thing worked out, but you're talking about a Z-list character there. Not really the same thing as the Dollhouse chick playing Ms. Marvel or Wasp.

Well considering we still don't know who the new Munn character is, I don't know if we can say what list the character fits under.(Though anyone seriously thinking she's Wasp clearly needs help)

But I think at most, they just made Munn like a more known shield agent or someone like a better known civilian of the comics.

But again, I can totally see some of the Buffy/Angel, Firefly/Serenity, Dollhouse alum playing lesser characters, whilst some play bigger roles.
