I actually think Marty could ,( though the timeline would be close in terms of when his siblings were born) still travel to 1955 as in the original.

This time, the distance would be 20 years in the past ,as opposed to 30 years in the past.

Given that this would have been made during the during a period when 1950s nostalgia was popular with films like American Graffiti and Grease, with TV shows like Happy Days.

It could be appropriate if Marty still travelled to back to the 1950s as he did in the original.

I was actually gonna post Sha Na Na's 1970s version of Earth Angel and Johnny B Goode, but the sound quality of their versions isn't very good imo.

Are you sure it won't the too close to "present day" with only 20 years?

I guess if the film is changed into something a bit different, for example Marty not having older siblings, then it'll work.

But what about the musical element? I'm not sure what to do with that

They could ditch the older siblings if they wanted to.

Another different way to go is that Marty could be more into disco pop of the 70s, and then he performs with a big band at the school dance in 1945.

Then we wouldn't get a guitar solo, but instead a groovy disco dance.
