This word kills me a little every time I see it. Same with "nexted".
See, the letter T is an amazing thing. It makes a "Tuh" sound when you say it. So when you're spelling "cast" as in "cast in a movie role", it's like this: C - Kuh, A - Aa, S- Ss, T - Tuh. Kuh Aa Ss Tuh. kuhaasstuh. Cast.
Adding the "ed" makes it kuhaasstuhED. The "ed" does not replace the "Tuh" sound or enhance it in any way.
And since all educational things are made better with Sesame Street, I give you this:
