This word kills me a little every time I see it. Same with "nexted".

See, the letter T is an amazing thing. It makes a "Tuh" sound when you say it. So when you're spelling "cast" as in "cast in a movie role", it's like this: C - Kuh, A - Aa, S- Ss, T - Tuh. Kuh Aa Ss Tuh. kuhaasstuh. Cast.

Adding the "ed" makes it kuhaasstuhED. The "ed" does not replace the "Tuh" sound or enhance it in any way.

And since all educational things are made better with Sesame Street, I give you this:

It bugs me too!

I have seen it like twelve times already today on this board and another one.

Don't remember seeing the nexted....but see casted almost every day on here.

I haven't seen "nexted" here yet, but it's as much of a plague on the internet as "casted" is.

The only time I see "nexted" used on the net is in a slang term way, like pressing next on a song or a webcam chat site.

It's still a dumb word. Lol.

Most times when I see it, the person is spelling things in the way that they're said. Like "should of" and dumb crap like that, so I assume that those who do it think that "next" needs the "ed" as if the T didn't exist: "nexed".

It's worse than that, they really think it's "cast-ted" as if that is a real world.

I'm aware. Hence this educational public service announcement.

No, I mean you think they're just spelling it weirdly (if I understand you correctly) but they're actually pronouncing it differently.

"Nexted" seems to just be spelled weirdly. I've heard people say "casted".

I hear ya, I've seen it, heard it in many places.

Casted is not a real word.

I hate when people want to Axe me a question.

I confess that Ferret has mentioned this to me before. I have honestly made this grammar mistake with cast.

This ain't the confession thread boyo.

Oh Really:huh: I didn't notice:dry:

I thought someone should fess up to making this mistake.

In my defense on skype, I am usually at that time of day in a almost half awake state of mind.:cwink:

Mre importantly than the grammer
Is that song in the video a crappy parody of that ****** Hey there delila(sp?) song?
what kind of crap are we putting in our kids heads?

Ferret, you forgot when people use the word "Texted" that s*** gets on my nerves.

"I texted you like an hour ago, why didn't you answer."

Yeah, "casted" is pretty bad, but the one that drives me nuts is when people spell "ridiculous" as "rediculous." I see this all the time on the hype. Also, rampant abuse of the ellipsis. Sentences end with one period not three.

Finally, don't use the em dash unless you know what the hell you're doing. Harry Knowles of AICN, I'm looking in your direction.
