There is a new rumor that Matt Damon may be cast as either Aquaman or Martian Manhunter in the JL feature. Clearly the former has potential for a stand-alone film and I think this will be the driving force behind which character he plays.

Aqua Man Sucks. If Damon were anyone, he should be a re-quel GL. But my vote is for Manhunter b/c it'd be cool to have MM in a movie.

^I'm so glad that this attitude is slowly starting to disappear. Aquaman is a great character that has gotten a bad rap for a few less-than-flattering portrayals. The New 52, Injustice, Flashpoint Paradox, and other recent media have been doing a fantastic job of re-imaging the character and starting to help some people (including myself) take him more seriously.

Let me just say that I feel like the Damon rumors are pure speculation that started from that joke of "if Ben Affleck is Batman, they'd better make Matt Damon Robin". There is no way that WB is casting any expanded universe roles yet since they've proven to be following a movie by movie development plan. All eyes are on Superman/Batman right now, and if any role searching is going on, it's probably for a cameo capacity which may not even include the actual actor/actress to be cast in any role (see Thanos in Avengers).

Of the three characters here, I guess Aquaman would be the most interesting choice to place him. I can see him as Flash depending on which one we're talking about, but certainly not Martian Manhunter. Matt Damon isn't stoic enough for that, he'd probably be playing a completely new direction of the character if cast for it at all. But I'm betting WB isn't even looking at him yet.

I could see Matt Damon as Barry. He isn't a bad choice but since the Flash goes on tv first we can forget that.

I agree!

I'm torn between Flash and Aquaman. If they do Aquaman; you can expect them to modernize the character like in MOS.

I'm hoping that they will do something interesting and cast Dwayne Johnson as Captain Marvel-- another golden age character that could have his own feature.

Manhunter is a silver age character and the theme of the first JL film should be the golden age.

Obviously, if nothing else for the one punch alone.

Haha I never noticed that before but he does kinda look like Guy Gardner.

Oh yeah, an action packed film without too much cheesy elements. And the hero will finally feel like a real person, not just a character in comic books (or cheep TV stuff).
Will he be able to play a regal hero, which is required?

I'm casting Matt Damon
(She's casting Matt Damon)
I'm sorry but it's true
I said I'm casting Matt Damon
(She's casting Matt Damon!)
I'm not imagining it's you
I'm casting Matt Damon
(On the bed, on the floor, on the towel, by the door, in the tub, in the car, up against the mini-bar)
I'm casting Matt Damon

Well if you are casting Matt Damon, then who is casting Ben Affleck?

aquaman needs an actor with a regal quality for example henry had that quality for superman

i also want Arthur to have a booming voice i love his voice in injustice

my fav. choice is joel edgerton

Shockingly I'm not opposed to Matt Damon as Arthur Curry or Hal Jordan.

A Matt Damon Aquaman manip? I wonder what he will look like in the green and golden suit

Damon would be a huge mistake for Aquaman. If that character is going to overcome the silly aspect of his powerset, it will need a serious direction. An older actor (possibly with a modified '90s Aquaman look ) is the way to go.

I can't see Damon as MM, either. I can't think of any character likely to be in the JLA movie which is suited to Damon's look and skills. The first character that comes to mind is Nightwing.

Matt Damon would be perfect for Aquaman if he was like 10 years younger but right now, I don't know.
