Well he was both jealous & angry @ Peter when he walked in with his date Mary Jane Watson , Plus Peter stole Harry's popularity spot , With MJ's presence .
Very true, who knows what'll happen next between the two.

In the comics as well. However, she happened to be visiting her Aunt on that particular night...

That still stretches my suspension of disbelief...it would have to be really well-delivered. I'd rather have things make sense and be presented dramatically, rather than have complete loyalty to the comics.

Okay I just finished watching Catalysts.

This episode gets a 10/10 (And I hardly give 10/10). I absolutely loved how Green Goblin was handled. And I found it refreshing that they didn't explain the origin right off the bat, leave it a mystery for a little while yet. It's a nice nod to the comics. As usual, the writing is top notch and the animation wonderful as always. I found the pacing to be good as well, I loved the flashback. The plot was wonderful. There is nothing that I don't like about this show. Hah, Harry just ignores Gwen and Eddie, he's slowly turning into a tool. Hah, I also liked the look on everyones face when Pete shows up with Mary Jane Watson. Also, it seems that things are going to become more tense between Peter and Eddie. Oh my, Flash knows how to break it down! And it's insane that Harry's been hooked on the goblin formula...perhaps a throwback to when Harry had an addiction problem in the comics. I wasn't expecting that. And i've got to say, Goblin was bad ass, there is no doubt about that. Haha, and MJ was so cool. And I wonder what the inclusion of John Jameson will bring? Man-Wolf...or a certain sentient tar from another world? Hmmmm. Either way, I can't get enough of Spectacular Spider-Man.

Okay...wow...just wow!

Good review, but...
FLASHBACK NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
:)

Way to go for continuity. The Daily Bugle is still a wreck from Rhino's rampage. Gotta love this show.

Yeah, that was a nice touch.

Let see she doesn't get upset @ Parker for running off to take pictures for JJJ

She waits for Parker to come back and even saved "The Last Dance" for him .

I don't see that as evidence for her knowing. Plus, if that turns out to be the reason behind it, MJ suddenly becomes a really shallow hero-worshipper. And she'd probably be acting more in awe, having less suave sexiness. There's no solid evidence--just easily discreditable circumstantial evidence. But I guess we'll see.
...............................

As a final note, I'd just like to thank everyone, those I've argued and agreed with, for being so wonderfully receptive to me. I appreciate the acceptance I've felt into the Spectacular Spider-Man community.

It obvious just like in the 90's introduction episode of Gobby . "ENTER THE GREEN GOBLIN" . I do however think The Goblin formula may have been the key to Harry making the football team in "Competition" . It might also explain his recent overconfidence characteristic . The side effect might be Rage (since he did show it in this episode when Glory took Kong back .)

Looking back at the episode "Competition" Harry showed sgins of

1. Superhuman strength and durability

2. Great reflexes and agility

I wonder if there will be some kind of drug test that he has to take for football and they'll find signs of "steroids". If that's the case, that'll get him kicked off the team and he'll probably go over the edge. I don't know, could be what makes him into the second GG. Dunno.

Well They already started the rivalry in the premiere episode (With Norman liking Peter more than his own son Harry, because Of Science .) , (Then Peter trying out for The Football team, Crushing Harry's dream .) Their building up on both The Peter & Harry Fallout and of course Harry becoming the second Goblin and enemy of Spider-Man .

That makes sense to me. Could be...

Indeed, I am curious about one thing though, what will make Harry become the Goblin? I mean, he has taken the Goblin formula, but there's seems to be a better chance of Norman being the goblin. So, if Harry is to become the goblin in a later peisode, I wonder if the death of Norman (if it happens) will have the same affect on Harry as it did in the comics.

Probably

Im hoping. Im also hoping Harry wears his father's costume (again, provided Norman is used first), instead of becoming "The Green Sky-Surfer", or whatever....but hey; they GOTTA sell some toys, right? So expect GGII to look TOTALLY different than the current version.

Well, I think Harry will use his fathers suit. Thing work different in cartoon than they do in films such as the New Goblin in Spidey3 and I loved the New Goblin. He was so awesome!

does anybody have a downloadble link to this episode.

Chances are it'll be his father's suit with a handful of modifications (assuming it is Norman under the mask now).

just watched the episode on youtube, not bad at all.<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/cdweU6XRnyw&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/cdweU6XRnyw&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

I personally like this portrayal of the green goblin for three reasons.

1) Green goblin lost the battle but the fight wasnt all out. He escaped and i doubt that he wouldnt had any problem continuing the fight.

2) He kept his cool fighting spiderman. Spiderman made a quip and GG just made a quip back. He never got angry just found another way.

3)No revenge motivation. Every supervillain on the show so far has been on a revenge trip and having GG come in with something less revenge like is refreshing.

Harry can wear the same costume as Norman. The 90s cartoon didn't alter it any when he was the Goblin.

Yeah, they were very slight modifications when Harry become the Goblin in the comics (not the first time he was the Goblin though.)

This version of Goblin brought back fond memories of the original OLLLLD school spider-man comics, Mark Hammill's Joker, and too many choco-covered espresso beans.... *happy sigh*

It took many years, and several movies, animated series, etc, but they finally got it right!

3 cheers for the Spectacular Spider-Man team!

PS... I LOVE the little "ARG!" the pumpkin bombs scream as they blow up. CLASSIC!!!!

Amen!

Oh, by the way, anyone else not think Tombstone is the real Big Man?

I don't know. Maybe it's the way he never calls himself the Big Man, or how he always refers to the Big Man in the third person. Maybe it's the way Frederick Foswell stood up for him.

Because who would know better the true identity of the Big Man that Frederick Foswell himself?

But i'm lofing this series so far. I just don't know. Maybe it's all the fresh takes on classic villains (The Enforcers!), or how they introduce characters who are going to be important way before they actually do anything.

And, yeah. I liked Harry's little arc here. Because at this stage, it makes way more sense for him to just go crazy than for his father to. Nah, Norman's denoument isn't coming for a while. I'm not even sure if he'll become the Green Goblin at all. I mean, with Harry as the Goblin, a lot of stuff would just gain new... weight. Like that thing with Gwen, for example. Having them be friends would add a whole new dimension to that.

And what's going on with Pete. He's alienating all of his friends, especially Gwen and Eddie.

Frak me, I missed this one. Normally, i wouldnt be so pissed about missing a cartoon, but SSM is just so good. Whatever, i'll catch it the saturday after next when they show the repeat.

So tell me, how was GG?

When I was a kid, my first ever Spidey comic was a publication (comic book issues in my country are usually the equivalent to four US issues) featuring the Clifton Shallot Vulture, and Punisher's first appearance in a story with the Jackal and Hammerhead in it... It was my first contact with the 'verse, and I still have that book, which I understandably treasure very much. All of this just to point out how much this amazing show reflects the feel of those good old Spidey comics back in the day, with a still-single Peter Parker, a crazed up Harry Osborn and the threat of the Green Goblin (one of them at any rate) looming, the great supporting cast, the classic villains, a gang war building up, and those stories that just vibrated with a sort of magic that still cannot to this day be topped by any of the mediocre garbage that comes out (coffOMDcoff). Sorry for the rant, most of which makes no sense anyway, but damn...

It's a good time to be a Spidey fan again :)

By the way, I wonder if and when this show will go into the Jackal's storyline? Was that a Mr. Warren that Peter introduced to MJ as one of his teachers in this episode? My only concern is that the SSPM version of Jackal ends up being too similar to the Green Goblin... He already talks and acts a lot like the Jackal I envisioned as child from reading the first Punisher story.
