CCleaner Compromised to Distribute Malware for Almost a Month

I have the 5.28 version installed. Does that mean it could also be infected and should uninstall/reinstall?

Just get the update and it should be good. I am thinking about removing it all together though as the company that purchased it does not have a good track record and this is a horrible way to start their ownership of CCleaner to make me think otherwise.

Removing it all together would be the way to go. Most of these optimizers are not really relevant nowadays anyways. If you want to clean out the detritus on your computer, just run Disk Cleanup every now and then. The other main features of CCleaner (Registry Cleaner, Uninstaller, Browser Cleanup) are all things Windows doesn't require (Registry cleanup), or are things you can do yourself (the other two).
