I've never been to a comic-con before, I'll be turning 29 June 12th and I'd like to go to at least one before I turn 30 and Chicago seems to be the nearest since it's a 12-hour drive. So, for those of you who have been to one, what can I expect? Are there food areas? Are there after parties? What time should I show up?

Sorry for the late response.

I live about an hour and fifteen from Chicago. I've been going to Wizard World at the Rosemont since 2008. I'm not sure if your con will be at the same facility but the Rosemont is a big place with a food court and bathrooms. I suggest eating before you come because the lines for food are insane. It will be crowded, just a warning. I have no idea about after parties but you need to arrive early. You will spend the majority of your time there waiting. I really go purely to get sketches done and it can take a few hours, depending on how many other people have asked for art and on how fast the artist is.

I gotta say, the artists kinda tick me off at times because they have lousy attitudes. Its really like they dont want to be there. I asked one guy for a sketch first thing last year and he was like "It'll be $300 and all day to get it done." And all he was doing was standing there talking to two guys. That brings me to another thing: bring lots of money. Nothing is cheap. A sketch can go from $5 to hundreds of dollars.

On the plus side, there are a lot of very scantily clad nerd girls there. Seriously, I dont know how they dont get arrested.

:D

Yeah I think I'm gonna get the Bruce Campbell VIP ticket, and I noticed that the Ecto-1, Batmobile and the Delorean will be there (lots of pics :D). I checked for rooms at the Hyatt Regency Hotel (the first hotel they recommend on the Wizard World page) and it looks like they already sold out of them that week (wow!). Comfort Inn has rooms though LOL. I was also wasn't sure how to dress (I live in northern michigan so I'm used to cool weather) but if it's that crowded I might have to invest in a few t-shirts. I also checked the programming schedule, there's a red carpet VIP party on that Friday (only to red carpet VIP holders only) and I can't find information on how to obtain a red carpet VIP ticket (assuming it's ONLY for celebrities and whomever they invite personally).

It'll be hot with all of those people crowded together, so dress cool.
