I don't think so I still think Don is still going ahead with the TV Series from what I've been hearing.

I respect the original creators of anything, but Mancini's comment is odd as he's already muddied the brand with these DTV films and now a TV series. It's cheapened it. The new film at least gives Chucky the chance to be seen by a wider audience again, instead of only the fans.

Yeah, Mancini should thank Tom Holland for beefing up and directing his script. And this remake so far sounds better than anything Mancini is planning right now. He made the right decision when he turned "Bride of Chucky" into a parody, because the series had already become a parody of itself by then without Holland at the helm (and that movie was pretty fun). But other than that... I can't wait to see a proper "Child's Play" movie, especially with Aubrey Plaza and Brian Tyree Henry in the lead roles.

Meh, no Charles Lee ray, no soul possession, no Brad Dourif. Not Child's Play imo. Name this movie something else and I'll be good. People forget that what made this franchise great was Brad Dourif. No one can replace him as chucky just as no one can replace Englund as Freddy. They simply set the standards for those characters. Mancini, I could care less about, he's ruined the franchise but keep the essentials such as Brad Dourif and soul possession. Change other things if wish but keep that core element

I have a weird history with this franchise. The first one I saw was Child's Play 2 at like age 9 and for some reason, it got to me more than a movie has. Maybe it was because I was dealing with a death in the family but I dunno, Chucky freaked the crap outta me- the robotic type non-fluid movements, the piercing blue eyes and evil grin, the red hair with overalls and colorful clothes. The name Chucky itself is brilliant for this character as it is playful but still sounds harsh phonetically.

Since then, I've had a weird fascination with the franchise despite not wanting to watch them and knowing they are just B-movie horror films. Still, I'm interested to see where it goes but yea, I think the older ones scared me because of how Chucky moved due to practical effects. CGI Chucky that didn't use voodoo isn't nearly as affective at surface level. Technology gone wrong blah! The voodoo element added to the already sinister idea the franchise originally invented.

I don't mind the technology angle, it's something new and adds just a touch of added plausibility. I mean if someone WERE to have a doll in their house that wanted to kill them in this day and age, it would more likely be the result of technology gone wrong than a voodoo spell.

Both concepts are scary in their own right.

Interesting, I didn’t realize they were remaking Child’s Play. I actually just watched the original for the first time a few weeks ago. Wasn’t the biggest fan, but I could see why people really liked it.

Very interested in this remake.

It’s funny that the original was inspired by My Buddy dolls but changed the doll brand to Good Guy and now it’s come full circle to Buddi.
