Child's Play Remake in the Works

nah, they are sticking with the remake.

after all, todays useless audience simply cannot survive with crappy remakes and reimaginings of previous movies.

They are probably going to remake Borat as well.

Give it a "reimagining" for todays MTV generation, pimp, hoes and what have you.

of course they will.

its going to be a "reimagining" as they so convienently put it.

In the remake, Winston is a Ghost, Egon is a torturer, Ray is homeless and Venkman is a pervert.

Should make for some great "remake" story telling.

:oldrazz:

And slimer has sex with a pie.

They should remake bad movies...

fix a movie that needs to be fixed!

I wonder if they'll remake "Ghostbusters" next.

I think this one is safe. I don't think there'll be a remake of Ghost Busters. Child's Play is ok. One of the original series producer's sister, I worked for her.

Guess I'm the only one excited to see what they do with it. A while ago I was thinking about how a remake of this film could turn out and how it would be interesting to see- looks like I'll soon find out. I think it has potential to be scary focusing more on certain elements of the story and less on others.

Might be a good idea to try and make it scary again, instead of the horror/comedy BS the series fell into.

Agreed. I enjoyed 1-3, and could accept Bride, but Seed really ruined the franchise to me. I know Bride had some intentional comedy, but Seed had too much. So as for another Chucky movie, I'd rather see a remake than a sequel. Take Chucky back to the solo act days.

Edit: I'm interested in the 20th anniversary DVD coming out next year.

I read this today and seriously couldn't f**king believe it. That proves it right there, people. There is no God. How can there be if things like this around allowed to happen?

I actually heard from Akroyd in an interview that they next Ghost Busters movie may be completely CGI.

Further proof.

For the special edition release I hope they erase Chucky's strings cause they're pretty visible and use CG to match up his lip sync a little more too.

Of all the remakes this is the ones thats must un needed!

I mean its a 2 foot stinking doll and who the hell plays with dolls now?!

The fact that you dont think dolls are scary anymore means that it is definitely NEEDED to be remade

the dolls 2 feet freaking tall! killer doll or not. and i mean no one plays with the my buddy type of doll. If they don't want it to seem dated there gonna have to change Chucky from a my buddy type doll to something else more modern of a doll.

Jesus, another horror remake that probably will be so bad that it won't be screened for critics.

I can't stand the remakes...Once Texas Chainsaw and Psycho was remade, i was already pi**ed but then when I started hearing rumblings about Halloween (my all time favorite movie, not just horror movie, but movie period), I wanted to cry and it was as bad as I thought (and I actually like Rob as a director and musician) and Halloween should have never happened. Then Friday the 13th got announced and I hate the fact that we will never get the undead Jason anymore I guess, its back to him being some hillbilly killer again (I want Kane Hodder back as Jason). Clive Barker wants to do Hellraiser again and now Doug Bradley is not going to be Pinhead it sounds like. Now Chucky...I loved Bride of Chucky and Seed..they were a scream...I mean come, its a damn doll...camp value is what these movies should be about...besides Jennifer Tilly is too damn hot for her own good :

As for the state of the characters in their series..I don't like how once the remake comes out, the old series is dead for good...Take Halloween: With Donald Pleasence passed on, Debra Hill, and Moustapha Akkad, the old series is gone. They killed off Laurie Strode in Halloween Resurrection but a return to the Thorn storyline would have been ideal...yes I liked that storyline and if they had released the Producers Cut to the big screen like Pleasence wished, it would have been better received I think...

Jason has endless potential of ideas so Jason X wasn't the best (it has a lot of fun moments, the VR Crystal Lake, the smashing of the head in the liquid nitrogen), the old series could continue besides...we are due for a Freddy vs. Jason rematch anyway...

Remakes need to die...period!!!!

never thought i'd see this .. why is a good guy doll coming out in 2008 ??

Since the franchise has turned into comedies with his family, I'm up for a horror reboot of the original.

Dourif needs to do Chucky's voice though.

lol, Child's Play is on HBO right now. I would much rather have a remake than a crappy sequel.

I thought the reason the whole movie was suspenseful is because you didn't actually see Chucky do anything till the end so now that whole suspense is gone. That is why I hated all the sequels.

YOU CANNOT MAKE A MOVIE ABOUT A KILLER DOLL SCARY!!!!!! I was 9 when I saw the first one, & it was just a really great black comedy. It didn't scare me.

Maybe Don Mancini will go with the original idea that had the script toy with the audience a bit longer, making them wonder if Andy was the actual killer rather than Chucky.

It doesn't matter if they go with that idea now. Everybody knows it is the f-ing doll. There is no suspense here. The only thing they could do is make Andy the killer. Which wouldn't make it Child's Play anymore.

After some serious thought...I agree with a remake of this franchise.
