We have seen CBMs doing better and better in China market over the years and it has become a substantial contribution to the international box office. Regardless the percentage of the profit, the film maker can get from the China market, the fanboys care the most is only the number it makes.

we have seen that the CBM will make significant number if there is some famous China actors/ actress in the movie, regardless if they are just extras or small roles. best examples are IM3 and Xmen-TOFP.

so my question is should BvS do the same? getting in some famous china actors. and who are they and what are the roles they should be?

Only if the story calls for such characters. They shouldn't be shoe-horned in just to appeal to a segment of the population.

I think people are overestimating the whole actors = market appeal thing. It's not about the actors nationality, but rather the interests meshing well with people's tastes (why Pacific Rim did so well in Asian countries vs. North America for instance).

but what IM3 and Xmen did are shoe-horned to me. yet they are doing excellently in the China Market. (that famous china actress was totally cut out in the international cut of IM3. she was just a nobody nurse. same to the Blink... well she got a name and better treatment in Xmen though)

What about the Swedish market?

Us guys dont wanna feel left out! Sure, Marvel and Disney beat WB to the punch when they snagged Stellan Skarsgård and Max Von Sydow. But theres still Peter Stormare i guess? How about him for Brainiac? Come on, surely you gotta think about the Swedish market too. :cwink:

As a Chinese with some knowledge about Chinese market.I have to say famous China actors/ actress in the movie is important to Chinese government and leaders.Because they want to feel that China is a superpower in the international media just like Soviet Union in the past.If a movie have Chinese actors. It will have more possiblities to enter Chinese market, have better release date in China, and more adversitment and media attention in China(because they are all controlled by Chinese government)
But that is not equal to Chinese audiences like to see them in these movies. They sometimes even complain that Chinese actors destroy the atmosphere of these films.
In fact they prefer Japanese actors in these films,Tao Okamoto is very popular in China now since the Wolverine last year

Given that both characters are iconic American heroes, who mostly operate in America, I don't really see how they'd do that.

People should know meet with Chinese audiences's meet doesn't equal to having Chinese element or Chinese actors/actresses,Many Chinese prefer western actors/actresses or
western style movies

too bad Swedish market contributes too little in the International box office gross. :p sorry. numbers dictate all.

Batman and Superman are one of those things that transcends culture. It's like Coca-Cola or McDonald's. You don't really need to try to appeal to any one ethnicity.

Did The Wolverine do well in China ?

Tao Okamoto (from Japan is in this movie, would that help ?)

I'd like a short sequence where Superman stops a fire in Beijing, and one where Superman speaks Chinese to a citizen.

of course, she is very popular in china now,The Wolverine expand the X-men's fanbase a lot in China,it nearly 3.5 times the box office than last sequal in China.Gal Gadot is also very popular in China.I think WB is very clever,They don't
use chinese actors, but to use some foreign actress popular in China

See. There r more posters from china here. BvS shouldn't ignore the lucrative market. Just do a little bit more like IM3, the return will be more than double.

No actors needed. Captain america:Winter soildier made 100 million in china without any chinese actors. That market is growing exponentially and will continue to grow. I expect BvS to perform even better than winter soldier.

The JL could definitely do with some Asian representation. It's got one woman. And one African American.

I was going more for a quality over quantity thing=quality in actors. Surely having a Ingmar Bergman trained actor in a Superman movie would be good with the critics? No?

ps. if anyone missed it, i was joking in the first place. Im not really invested in this. :cwink:
