When will these artists learn to leave the Beatles catalog alone? It was bad enough when I heard that Panic at the Disco was covering Eleanor Rigby and that god awful Across the Universe cover at the Grammys two years ago, but now this? I mean, Plastic Ono Band is a masterpiece. From the howling vocals in "Mother" to the haunting lyrics of "Isolation" and God, Plastic Ono was Lennon's crowning achievement as a solo artist.

Before long, adolescent little girls will be comparing Billy Joe Armstrong and stating how Green Day were more important and better musicians than Lennon or the rest of the Beatles were. God knows how much I've heard that Korn was better than Floyd because their version of "Another Brick in the Wall" was more metal. I understand that musicians want to pay tribute to the greats before them, but now and days, there are such an abundance of cover songs, that some artists don't even release their own material anymore. When it comes to movie soundtracks like Across the Universe or I am Sam, the need for cover songs are understandable since the rights to the Beatles catalog are so hard to obtain, but most aren't even necessary. I swear to god, if I hear Marilyn Manson cover "My Sweet Lord" I will blow my ****ing brains out.

I don't give a crap if someone covers another artist.

I don't listen to the cover.

Interesting outlook. But if some popular pop punk band such as Green Day covers the song, it's bound to be played on the radio over and over again.

Hmm. I hate it you hate it. But all my high school friends, and other like them around the world will eat it up.

That was awful. The fact that there are are people who actually like Green Day or that version of the song (which by the way, is one of the best thing John wrote) is utterly puke-inducing

The fact that this single will probably sell more copies than Paul's next album is stupifying.

It's sad, but it's true.

My sentiments exactly man. Chaos and Creation was arguably one of the best albums of '05, and it barely even scratched the charts. I was happy to see it get nominated though.

Get an mp3 player, a fm transmitter, and start pirating music.

I only listen to the radio for talk radio. And that's pretty rare these days.

Most of those idiots don't even know who the Beatles were. And the ones who actually do because they play a little think they suck 'cos they're not METL (grrr).

To paraphrase Big John Milner from American Graffiti, "Rock and Roll has been going downhill ever since John Lennon died."

And that's the truth.

I know the feeling man. I love playing Abbey Road, The White Album, and Revolver to my friends without telling them who it is because their expressions are absolutely priceless once they find out.

I don't own the cd, but from what I've heard onthe The Space Within Us dvd, it was great. "Jenny Wren" is Paul's "Eleanor Rigby" for this era.

I would say it's more of a Blackbird, but I can see the Rigby comparison.

Musically, it's "Blackbird", but lyrically it seems more like "Eleanor Rigby". "Fine Line" was great, too.
I highly recommend getting your hands on it though. If you aren't able to, however, you should consider downloading "At The Mercy", "English Tea", "Riding to Vanity Fair", "How Kind Of You", and "This Never Happened Before". "Too Much Rain" is a standout track as well.

I'll get it. Everything's on I-tunes.

I think June 5th, in addition to MAF, the Beatles remasters are being released on cd.

Meh... Green Day's cover is ridiculously mediocre, I can't say it's horrid since it's catchy enough but it's just using rock cliches over John Lennon's rather stirring song... Green Day's really gone to the suck :(

The only Lennon song I really like is Imagine. I like the beatles and Paul's stuff more.

I actually really don't like "Imagine". I used to love it, but John really has stuff that's tons better. Off the top of my head, "In My Life", "Watching The Wheels", "Instant Karma", "Power To The People", "Nobody Told Me", "Woman", "Mind Games", "New York City", "Bless You", "Isolation", "Love", "Jealous Guy" and "Borrowed Time" are ones I'd take over "Imagine".
