Documentary/Biopic Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer

Can't post here because of swearing, but someone on Twitter shared a photo of the script writing in the sex scene and it might possibly be one of the most unintentionally funny things I've read in a while. :funny:

Has? Well, not quite yet. But by the end of the weekend, it probably will. :cwink:

Rather embarrassing, but despite having seen Oppenheimer twice, I couldn't place who played Rabbi. I kept wanting to check the end credits, but was always too shell shocked to do so at the end. Finally remembered to do so today and I am floored that that was David Krumholtz. I still don't recognize him. Killer performance and disappeared into the role.

Really? I recognized him immediately. Even made a joke about Nolan working his way through the cast of 10 Things I Hate About You. :hehe:

I recognized him too but I can see why some wouldn't since he's a little heavier in this. He's been gaining and losing weight for roles lately, at least he did when he was on The Deuce.

To be honest, I think it was the weight. This was the first time I had seen me in anything where he was heavier. My mental image of him continues to be of when he was younger and thinner in stuff like The Santa Clause, Numbers, and Harold&Kumar.

I knew it was Krumholtz immediately by his voice. The dude has sounded like a grown man since he was 12 lol
Yeah, the voice was what I couldn't place. It sounded very familiar, but also different. Although I hadn't seen him in anything else lately, I thought he did a phenomenal job changing the cadence and inflection of his speaking voice. It was much slower and more thoughtful than his other performances I had seen.

To me he'll always be this kid no matter how old he gets:

It seems he had thyroid cancer about a decade ago, which would explain the recent weight issues. They nuke your thyroid to get rid of the cancer and although they give you supplements to replace the hormones it produced naturally, it's almost impossible to get a perfect dose and people with thyroid disease often have issues with their weight as a result.

Oh wow, I had no idea. I'm glad he's cancer free.

It's now the highest grossing WWII movie of all time (if you want to classify it as that).

Now, it stands as Nolan’s fifth-biggest release ahead of “Dunkirk” ($530 million), as well as the highest-grossing World War II movie of all time. “Oppenheimer” is also one of four biographical films to reach the $500 million mark, according to Universal, joining “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “The Passion of the Christ” and “American Sniper.”

‘Oppenheimer’ Extends Imax 70mm Run Due to Popular Demand - Variety
Due to popular demand, “Oppenheimer” has extended its 70mm run at Imax theaters nationwide through the end of August.

The previous end date, which was already an extension of the film’s original run in Imax 70mm format, was Aug. 17. Tickets for Christopher Nolan’s atomic bomb drama are already on sale through Aug. 31 at some Imax theaters, as exhibitors will make them available on a rolling basis.

There really needs to be a greater number of IMAX 70mm aka True IMAX theaters in the USA. They are almost always sold out for most films and it seems like such a no brainer to add a few more per year.

So on Saturday, I met a couple of friends at the AMC near me to see TMNT. After the movie, I realized there was an IMAX showing of Oppenheimer starting and I have an AMC Stubs account, so I could walk right in at no additional cost. My plan was to just sit down and watch maybe the first hour or so again, mainly cause there were a few things in the first act that I wanted to catch again and solidify in my head. Plus I had other things I needed to do that day. The problem was, the movie is so damn good that I just couldn't bring myself to walk out of it at any point. I sat there glued to my seat for the whole damn thing as 3 hours flew by, again. So, viewing number 2 in the books. :funny:

Absolute stone cold masterpiece.
