Documentary/Biopic Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer

Since Thursday night I've realized how much this movie will benefit from repeat viewings at home. No distractions from others at the cinema. *Repeatedly searching for when the 4k is up for pre-order*

At least 6 months, I think. The perfect Christmas movie to watch with the entire family lol

I don't think it was Paramount's fault, I think Tom Cruise was adamant on keeping the release date.

It's such a strange juxtaposition between how the movie made me feel on a visceral and emotional level, and how genuinely happy it makes me that it's doing well. Fear for humanity's future as a whole mixed with glimmer of hope for the future of cinema. A strange sensation, haha. Hopefully a part of some more positive "chain reaction".

Also, more wholesome Nolan and Cillian content:

Freaking love these guys.

So great to see these two talking film.

Lots of great interviews with Nolan for the press tour of this film. I forgot which interview it was, but Nolan was asked about his thoughts on The Batman and he kindly declined to answer, which I actually admire because I feel he thinks others are trying to paint it as if it needs his seal of approval.

I very much got the Amadeus vibe from the film, so it is very cool to see Nolan confirm it was a major influence and that he had Cillian watch it as part of his preparation.

Either way, I do feel bad for Cruise in all of this. Terrible release date miscalculation, whoever's decision it was.

Oppenheimer was stunning. Really fantastic film and I'm super happy for Nolan.

It was also great to see such EXCITEMENT and action at the multiplex this weekend. I actually saw Mission Impossible on Thursday night, so I got to see the start of the Barbie phenomenon in terms of the crowds piling in. Then I saw Oppenheimer on Sunday and the theater was still packed as hell, tons of people dressed up for Barbie and my Oppie showing was obviously sold out. Always love seeing people having a great time at the movies.

Taking the wife to Barbie this coming weekend.

Yup... my exact experience and feelings exactly-- and also planning to take the wife to see Barbie this weekend haha. But it's really refreshing to see this kind of buzz and excitement at the movies. A unique moment in pop culture for sure.

I went to the NYC Lincoln Square IMAX for Oppie, and there was just a vibe. Pink outfits everywhere on the streets, people wearing Barbenheimer shirts. Audience was super captivated by the film (you could hear a pin drop during THAT sequence, reacting to certain lines) and applauded at the end. Being that it's a theater with so much history for me personally (a lot of it tied up in Nolan's films), it was just really satisfying to be back there and witness this. And my lord, it is sold out for the foreseeable future so I'm not sure if or when I'll get that experience again. Feel very lucky that I happened to snag tickets when I did.

Let me tell you, I saw barbenheimer shirts at my local theater and I heard someone name drop Chris Nolan outside. I have never heard anybody mention another directors name at that theater. Nolan is the star of his own movies and he sells it on that before anything else.

People are excited for 2 great films that are direct opposites releasing at the same time, and since the ball started rolling on turning it into a double bill of Barbenheimer, it’s just become a huge event that’s captured the public’s imagination. Nolan is one of the only modern directors (ie not the older ones like Cameron and Spielberg) the GA friends of my age would know or ever mention. His record is very rare.

Interviewer: "Sometimes I forgot it was RDJ. Sometimes I thought he was Jeremy Irons."
Nolan: "That's harsh, man."
:lmao:

I love seeing Nolan doing marketing with his great starring actors. Fun seeing how they get on and play off each other. This film brought a lot of geniuses together.

Absolutely! Normally a movie like this wouldn't get my friends talking, but people I know want to see it because of Chris which is just awesome.
