Here's the skinny:

[Nolan] wants to make a film about the economic depression, with a bit of a twist. The proposed film would focus on a world where “civil wars break out in many countries as the money situation gets out of hand, causing people to fight over simple resources like food and water.”

And apparently WB wants him back for Inception 2, but Nolan wants nothing to do with it . . . so WB is moving forward anyway, with a different director. :whatever:

WTF - is any of this true? I REALLY like that Civil War idea, and it seems to be a natural progression for Nolan after TDKR, which basically handles similar territories, story-wise.

TDKR is based on A Tale of Two Cities... I wouldn't be surprised if this whole thing ends up being true.

I stopped reading as soon as CBM was listed as the source.

WB wanting Nolan back for Inception 2 wouldn't really be a surprise since they probably want him back for 10 more Batman films. However, I don't see them getting on his bad side by hiring another director.

I don't care if DiKR is based on "Tale of Two Cities". If it's anything like the last film I hope the Bolsheviks take over in the end.

I guarantee WB would never move forward with Inception 2 without Nolan. Sure the first one made a lot of money but he keeps pumping out great quality and big money makers for WB that there is no way they'd even think of ruining that relationship.

If there's one thing WB ain't, it's Fox.

BUT, if WB were to surprise all of us and screw up royally, I see this happening:

- WB tries to force Inception 2 down Nolan's throat.
- Nolan refuses.
- WB tries to force more Batman down Nolan's throat.
- Nolan refuses.
- Nolan says, "You know what? Peace out."
- Nolan leaves WB, gets picked up by MGM/Sony and he makes 007.
- 007 ends up being a July blockbuster that is up against "New Batman" in the same month.
- 007 wins.
- WB cries.

WB isn't stupid enough or brave enough to f** k with Christopher Nolan. Even though he's done making Batflicks and he, more than likely, wants nothing to do with an Inception sequel, Chris is still a brand-name and ANY film of his, at this point, has the power to generate a high level of attention and make a buttload of cash.

Sidenote: Who wants to bet they'll utilize Nolan's name (along with his filmography) for WB's marketing of Man of Steel?

I'm not feeling his Howard Hughes biopic (could be his first stinker) but who knows? I, for one, am excited to see what he does post-Batman. He's currently attached to three projects right now.

1. yes its true that WB wants a sequel to Inception. after this kind of BO every studio would pray for a sequel
2. there is no way that Nolan sold the rights to the sequel to WB. WB IMO can no do the sequel to Inception without Nolan

this kind civil war movie is to soon IMO.

This is already a given. They are going to plaster "From the man who brought you The Dark Knight Trilogy" etc. on any poster/trailer.

Apparently it's as much of a period piece as The Prestige was.
In other words, it's NOT a biopic, but rather Nolan's own movie that happens to feature Howard Hughes as the main character.

It focuses specifically on the latter years of Hughes' life when he was hallucinating, taking drugs, having horrifying dreams, locking himself in a hotel room for 6 months. Having OCD, germophobia, not shaving.

It focuses on surreal imagery, fragmented time, non-linear storytelling ...

In other words, we're getting the complete OPPOSITE of The Aviator. We're getting something a LOT like Memento, The Prestige, and Inception.

Count on this being INSANELY amazing. Nolan claims it's the greatest thing he's ever written.

That's not the "complete opposite" of The Aviator, then --- that movie featured all the OCD, germophobia, beardage and insanity as well. But yeah, I'm sure that Nolan will take us *inside* Howard's muddled mind.

As for the whole civil war rumor --- as several posters have already said, it comes from CBM, so it's about as reliable as a '73 Ford Pinto.

clearly we have to go deeper.

Definitely. I'll be surprised if they even mention Zack Snyder more than three times in the marketing scheme.

No biopic?

*breathes sigh of relief*

Yeah, after watching Martin Scorsese's The Aviator, I'm not too excited about anyone tackling another script regarding Howard Hughes' life. However, Nolan has yet to let me down, so I'll look forward to it.

This is a load of BS.

WB would never go along with Inception 2 unless they want to break all ties with Christopher Nolan and kill the goose that lays the golden egg. Hypothetically the only way this would work is if A.) Chris Nolan actually wanted a sequel (hah) B.) If he's dead.

Nolan is their new Eastwood, WB will not **** this up for themselves.

I'd love Nolan tackle a modern war film, especially Wally's lens on it...

What the WB does not get is. Nolan owns the WB & that the WB does not own Nolan

WB does get that. The idiot who made up this lie however doesn't.

Nolan said he was interested in exploring the Inception universe as a video game. Best if WB backed this, I think - rather than a non-Nolan movie sequel.

I actually would like that ;)
but i think if nolan does bond he'll will do it with a new actor and introduce him his way.

I wouldn't doubt at all about what DC is proposing to C. Nolan. They already are thinking of pimping out Watchmen a little more and are floating the idea around for a sequel.

WB will never make Inception 2 without some form of involvement from Nolan.
If WB isn't moving forward with frikkin Matrix 4 despite the Wachowski Brothers slowly losing cred. , why the hell would they do that with Inception 2.

C'mon.
