Cliff Notes on the last 10 Years of the Marvel Universe?

This is an excellent idea, warn him of books to STAY AWAY from! I don't think there will be any argument over these choices. Avoid the following books like the plague:

Sins Past (Spidey)
The Other (Spidey)
Holy War (X-Men)
Sins Remembered (see Sins Past)
Get Kraven (Spidey)
X-Men: The Draco (actually, ANYTHING by a guy named Chuck Austen)
Ultimate Adventures
Any Hulk by Bruce Jones
The Dark Knight Strikes Again
All-Star Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder
Any Green Arrow NOT drawn by Phil Hester

ten years' worth of undue angst averted...

hello, and welcome back, true believer!

:spidey:

If I'm to recommend anything, it's that you get caught up on ol' webhead via
http://spiderfan.org

and at all costs, stay away from ever having to suffer reading the following story arcs:

Sins Past (Spidey)
The Other (Spidey)
Holy War (X-Men)
Sins Remembered (see Sins Past)
Get Kraven (Spidey)

Since you've been away for ten years, you won't have to worry about the ONE AND A HALF-YEAR wait between issues, so go ahead and pick up Spider-man/The Black Cat "Evil That Men Do" mini- written oh so molasses-like by Kevin Smith.

DO PICK UP:
Spider-man: Reign
Spider-man: Tangled Web
Spider-Girl
Spider-man: Blue
Spider-man: Quality of Life
Secret War
Alias/The Pulse
Spider-man/Human Torch
Spider-man: Breakout
Arana
Slingers
Marvel Knights: Spider-man #1-12 (split into three TPBs, good readin!)
Peter Parker: Spider-man (Vol 2) "A Death in the Family"

oh yeah... almost forgot...

Cap dies... :csad:

Thank you for the recommendations on things to ignore. Right now, I'm so new to the scene again that just about every storyline looks cool. :woot:

Except for the whole "Gwen Stacy f**ked Norman Osborne and had a set of hyper age accelerated twins" right?

^You heard the man er, saw what the man typed, or whatever.

Funny, I recall people not really giving a damn when Hawkeye came back. Of course poeple were pissed when he died, but when he came back it was like just another day around here.

West Coast Avengers storylines were always meh to me, but it's still shocking to hear of their former leader biting the dust! :wow:

He seems a lot cooler in the House of M storyline, but I still remember him in the less than cool, less artistic purple attire.

BTW, I finished the House of M storyline after Scarlett Witch transforms the world into a place with few mutants. Does this wrap up in another House of M series, or did the Marvel universe permanently remain this way? Sorry, I have to ask the newbie questions.

I take it you missed out on the T-Bolts too? Where the Barron Zemo and the Masters of evil posed as heroes after the seeming death of the Avengers and the FF. There plan being that they would gain the public trust, and eventually get the same governmental access that the Avengers had, which they would use to take over the world. Only problem was, most of the team started to like being heroes, and when they were exposed to the world for what they were, helped the Avengers put the Zemo down. But they lost the public's trust, everybody figured they were dirty, except for one guy who could relate. Hawkeye. He took over leadership of that team and turned that group of murderers, ****es, and sociopaths into one of the best Superhero teams in the MU.

Yes, I totally missed that! That sounds like an awesome storyline! I'm going to have to catch that one too! :hyper:

stop telling him about awesome stories he'll have to track down :P

Spandex: they finally decided there were too many mutants, which is why House of M ended the way it did, this is perminent. The storyline picked up in a few places, but nothing notable (or at least, there's better stuff to concentrate on) The BEST thing that came out of it was Son of M, which follows what happened to Quicksilver after House of M. It was unexpectedly brilliant, easily the best story that's ever been done with Quicksilver, who's usually just a supporting character:

Aww come on, i'm a small petty man. Providing people with disappointment is one of my only joys in life. :)

then tell him about Miracle Man if you want to torture him
