There are a lot of BB3 endings threads out here but I just wanted to make one specifically for the idea of BB3 ending in a cliffhanger or not...So...What do you think...Want something like the Two-Face debate but involving the whole series?

Would you rather a definite ending to the series, makes you know that without a doubt there will be no other sequel after...Or...An ending that's a little open ended which allows a possibility for a Nolan return or anyone to come and take the helm of the series with a continuation of the story...

Cliffhanger/Open ended ending or Definite ending?

If Nolan knows it's his last, I want a definite ending. No bullsh1t cliffhanger, that leaves us scratching our heads onto a future story that will never come to fruition.

I vote.. definite ending. I want a complete Nolan's trilogy.

I honestly hope Nolan plans on doing a 4, 5 and 6... or at least a 4 and 5... or at least a 4. 3 is never enough when it comes to comic-book series... and I'm not sure I personally, as a lot of you, can adjust to another director...

I honestly hope for the opposite.

I also don't want a cliffhanger, BB3's ending needs to be epic, completely epic, nothing that makes the people believe there will be anotherone

Well I just want to see it ending with batman continuing his mission. No other need for a story past that, just to know that even though we don't see it Chris Nolan's batman is still out there doing what he does best.

Exactly. And start again in 20 years..

a TDK like ending is good. not an actual cliffhanger, but not with everything resolved (gotham saved, batman quitting...). Obvious there should be the option for another even if there wont or shouldn't be another

Quite honestly I wouldn't have minded if TDK were the last Nolan Batman movie. As of now it still may be, but I kinda doubt it. If he were to come back I would probably prefer a definite end, even if that means Batman/ Bruce Wayne *GASP* dying. I don't see Nolan as the type to stick with any one kind of subject matter for an extended period of time when it comes to writing and directing movies, he had to be talked into doing a sequel to Begins by his brother and Goyer. So I would expect a third Batman movie to be his last (again if he comes back) and in that case I would want either a definite or TDK type ending.

As long as its a vague-could-be cliffhanger and not a Matrix 2 cliffhanger, I'm good.

That's kind of actually where I see it going as well, but what do I know. :oldrazz:

I don't know what I prefer - just let Nolan do what he does best and I shall be blown away regardless. :woot:

I prefer an ending where Nolan let's the audience decide where the story is going or ending.

A perfect Comic book movie series should always be three movies and no more.

There should be an over-arching arch that covers all three movies and each movie has it's own individual story.

It's ok to bring elements from previous movies or set up aspects of the next movie, but there shouldn't be definitive cliff-hangers that movie goers have to wait for a year or two to see fulfilled.

There wont be four films, so why would I want a c0ck tease? The cliffhanger at the end of Batman Begins had me obsessing over TDK for 3 years... A cliffhange at the end of a potential third film would have me obsessing over a fourth indefinately if that fourth film never came.

I think it should be open-ended. The best movie endings are open ended. People who complain that they need justification and payoff for ending set-ups are just whiners. Look at John Carpenter's movies. They usually end open ended and are all the better for it. Especially when there isn't a sequel.

I want (and most likely will happen) all the stories connected to Nolans films to be ended so no cluiffhangers relating to Nolans arc's,characters or events.

But they need to end so that Other Batman films can come after it, so just finish havign batman continue to protect Gotham t Knight , maybe havign the 3rd having Batman become the master, like he is in the comics atm

If it's Nolan's last film, yes, give me a definitive ending....

Have Batman "save" Gotham, with freaks in Arkham, the mob dismantled, and criminals on the run.... Batman looks over Gotham, mission accomplished, his parents proud of him.

That's a little too finite...

Batman will never complete or win this mission/war... ever!

Batman's job is never over. That an integral part of the character. He won't allow himself to give up or die because there's still evil that needs to be fought.

No.

I want closure. The other two films give closure without definite cliffhangers. During the TDK press, Nolan and Bale kept speaking of the task as one that was 'not finite.' I believe that the film will end respectably, but proceed with a nod to the continuing criminal problem that Gotham faces. A happy ending this is not or shall not become.
