Clint Eastwood's....Jersey Boys

Erich Bergen Cast As Bob Gaudio In Clint Eastwood’s ‘Jersey Boys

The Jersey Boys movie has cast its Bob Gaudio. And they’ve plucked him right off the stage. Erich Bergen will reprise his role of the Four Seasons singer in the film after playing Gaudio in the Tony-winning Broadway show’s first national tour and onstage in LA and Las Vegas. The real Gaudio has a music credit on the film and in real life also wrote songs for Neil Diamond, Nancy Sinatra, Diana Ross, and Michael Jackson. Bergen makes his feature debut this Fall in How Sweet It Is with Paul Sorvino and Erika Christensen. His TV credits include appearances on Gossip Girl, Person Of Interest, Desperate Housewives, Franklin & Bash, and the CW pilot Joey Dakota. Onstage Bergen recently starred as Billy Crocker in the National Tour of Roundabout Theatre Company’s Anything Goes, and appeared in Hero at the Marriott Lincolnshire and Rudi Gernreich in the LA premiere of The Temperamentals. He’s repped by Don Buchwald & Associates and Persona Management.

Mike Doyle and Johnny Cannizzaro Join Cast aswell
Clint Eastwood‘s Jersey Boys adaptation keeps filling out the cast of its jukebox musical cast. Deadline hears that Mike Doyle (Shameless, A Gifted Man, Law & Order: SVU) has closed a deal to play Bob Crewe, the music producer who helps mold Frankie Valli and his bandmates into the Four Seasons, in a non-singing role. The real life Crewe is credited as lyricist on the Tony-winning Broadway musical and spearheaded its development alongside original Four Seasons member Bob Gaudio. Doyle’s recent screen credits include the indie Gayby and WB’s Green Lantern. He’ll next appear in You’re Not You with Hilary Swank. He’s repped by Untitled and Gersh.
Taking the role of Nick DeVito is Johnny Cannizzaro (The Muppets, Lost Angels). Nick DeVito is the twin brother of Tommy DeVito and a founding member of The Variety Trio, the group that began singing together before linking up with Valli and eventually becoming the Four Seasons. Cannizzaro is repped by MediaOne Management.
Last month Christopher Walken joined the cast as Jersey mobster Gyp Carlo. Filming on the WB and GK Films pic is set to begin in September in LA. Graham King and Rob Lorenz are producing with Valli and Gaudio serving as executive producers.

Nice!

My wife and I have been wanting to see the live show for awhile now. We're thinking about checking it out when we go to Vegas in October. Hopefully the movie turns out well.

Yes. I love this show, and it could easily translate to the screen. I've been hoping for this for years.

I still can't believe Clint's directing this.

Maybe he's "directing" it but really has a lot of help/input from the DP, producer, cast, etc. It happens way more than you think. These things are truly a collaborative effort. I mean, hell, by the time the choreographer works on set, works with the DP, the cast is doing their thing, the script supervisor, lighting technicians are all doing their thing... how much is Eastwood actually doing?

I like the way Eastwood shot this.

It is amazing how good of a director Clint has become. He films simple, straight forward stories, but shoots them with such skill, care and subtle beauty that the end result is something else.

Just from the trailer I know this is going to be a very well-shot movie. Looking forward to it.

This looks great. I saw the show a few years ago - for free, someone at work had an extra ticket he couldn't use and I got to skip work early to see the matinee. It was a really fun show and the music is amazing.

And it's going to be R-rated as well, so it sounds like they're keeping in the impressive number of F-bombs from the stage version. :funny:

Just saw this two months ago at The Fabulous Fox Theater here in STL and wow i'm so stoked for this version.

Sounds f'ing promising. :hehe: :D

Hey, it's Jersey... :funny:

One of my favorite f-word lines in the show was towards the end, when...

...they're all wrapping up the last of their narration and mentioning "the old neighborhood". Except Bob Gaudio's starts with him saying, "I don't miss the old neighborhood, I don't visit the old neighborhood, I don't give a **** about the old neighborhood..."

Damn Eastwood has a thing for the grey/washed-out colour grading on his films doesn't he?

Yaaaay! I'm always up for more musicals and Eastwood is amazing

I just found out that this comes out June 20. Promotion hasn't been that good. But Ill check this out eventually. Eastwood is great

Eastwood definitely directs things you wouldn't expect sometimes. I wouldn't have expected him to direct J. Edgar either.

I looooooooooooove Eastwood. By far one of my favorite directors. I will be there day one. For whatever he directs. He is one of the greatest directors alive.

The posters for this movie are really cool, well the ONE poster I have seen. Kinda striking and different when put next to all the blockbuster posters on the theater walls right now.

I almost forgot about this coming out tomorrow. May have to give it a look on the weekend.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing it this weekend too. It seems to be getting a mixed reception.

I wonder why they didn't wait and release this in the fall? This is going to get buried under all the other big summer releases.
