Clive Barker

Has anyone heard anything about Scarlet Gospels? A publication date?

I absolutley love weaveworld (hope for a movie one day) and the books of blood. I didn't think Mister B Gone was that bad either, just purley fun.

sorry to say , i was a youngster when Cabal was butchered on Screen and then briefly ressurected as a comic series . i didnt read it until 5 years ago and was very amazing . really wish they made it the way it was written tho it would be pure justice. HAVE abarat 1 , have yet to open it (first edition) and the TORTURED SOULS (toyline series 1) which incidentally included a story about the 6 characters in each figure.

love the TS story, love Cabal , so i know ill fall in love with the Abarat legacy.

anyone else have the TS figures ? or the spawn Clive barker series ?

He's a really talented guy, but I run hot and cold with his work. The Hellbound Heart is a great read, as are many of the Books of Blood, but then again, Mister B. Gone? I think he has a tendency to get a bit to flowery with his prose. Anyone else notice that his favorite word is "din?"

I've never noticed the "din" thing.

For those that live in Ireland.

AN EVENING WITH CLIVE BARKER
In association with Horrorthon and Trinity College, Dublin, we are delighted to present An Evening with Clive Barker at the IFI on July 13th (21.00). The renowned horror and fantasy author/director will give a talk about his career, followed by rare theatrical screenings of his early films, Salomé and The Forbidden. This event will be facilitated by Horrorthon’s Ed King.

I love Clive Barker! My favourite read was Imajica...its kinda dangerous though read it and was kinda lost for about 6 weeks- his writing can do that to the unprepared mind!

Publication of Abarat 3 is now scheduled for 27 September 2011, available in hardback at £15.43 / $24.99 and as a Kindle edition at £11.34 / $16.66. Abarat : Absolute Midnight may be black in sentiment but more glorious days will follow - Clive is already busy writing Book Four - The Dynasty Of Dreamers - and a gold-covered Book Five - Abarat : The Eternal

I loved the Nightbreed Movie, I didnt know about the differences in the book.

But to me, Nightbreed was something i had never seen before, a twist on all your sense of stereotypes and morality...and in the end a twistedly original superhero movie.

I should check out Cabal

Ah, I wish I had seen this sooner. I just ordered Absolute Midnight a couple of nights ago.

the only thing I have read by Clive Barker is "The Hellbound Heart", and that was purely because it is the book that Hellraiser was based on. -- Great book by the way. Well written and very engaging.
I like his imagination and his movies like The Candyman.

Give The Damnation Game and his Books of Blood series a try.

When I was mostly reading fiction (until 3-4 years ago) I checked out many of his books.

Being the Stephen King fan that I still more or less am, I enjoyed them from the start: Barker is EXTREMElY brutal, not as detailed as King, but easily my second favourite horror writer.

Clive's 22 January comment on his health:
Dear Friends, I've had some medical issues that have recently forced me away from my beloved desk and into the hospital... But do not worry... I will be home soon and back to causing trouble! My apologies for being off the radar!
All of my love,
Clive XOXO
