Coen Brothers to Make Spaghetti Western
Filmmaking siblings Joel and Ethan Coen are set to make their goriest film ever - a Spaghetti Western featuring scenes of primitive torture methods. The brothers, whose notoriously gory new film No Country for Old Men has been tipped for Oscar glory, are desperate to make a film about the days of cowboys and Indians battling it out in the Wild West of America. But - as Joel warns - it won't be one for the faint-hearted. He says, "We've written a western with a lot of violence in it. There's scalping and hanging ... it's good. Indians torturing people with ants, cutting their eyelids off." Ethan adds, "It's a proper western, a real western, set in the 1870s. It's got a scene that no one will ever forget because of one particular chicken."

awesome! Nice to see a quality rise in the Western genre again and with these guys it should be amazing

Hmm...Hugh Jackman is not a bad idea at all

plus he looks like Clint Eastwood :o

Nice, I'm all about this, even if it's going to be a little too real. :csad:

I am a horror fan...for real.

:down

A film made for the specific purpose of being gory. I'll pass.

Love the Coens. Love speghetti westerns. I'm down with this!

Sounds very interesting, I wonder if they'll go Leone, as far as the camera goes, or if they'll use their own style. Also whoever posted the video of The Quick and the Dead deserves to be shot.

The pitch being about the torture and gore doesn't appeal to me at all but i expect there will be a lot more to it.

Coens + spaghetti western = my jockey full of little swimmers.

I also never noticed that Jackman/Eastwood thing, they do look alarmingly alike.

it's not made for the sake of gore. in the coens' oppinion you can't really tell a true western story without a lot of gore. hence, there is a lot of gore.

It's not a "Spaghetti" western unless it's made by italian film makers in italy. So this would be the Coen Bros. making a regular ass western, not a spaghetti western, no matter how much they try to emulate Morricone when they do it.

On another note, it sounds bad ass, I'll see it.

^ Agree to the spaghetti western part.

But I don't understand why people think of gore as entertainment. :(
