So who would you say is the best source for casting news on Jon Chu's anticipated (and yet unnamed) action sequel G.I. Joe 2? Variety? The Hollywood Reporter? Deadline?

Nope, nope, nope... it turns out that superstar Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been the one to break most of the casting news for the movie currently shooting in New Orleans as he's been tweeting up a storm during his downtime.

After confirming recently that actor Bruce Willis had a role in the movie, Johnson now reports that comedian DeRay Davis, last seen in Jumping the Broom, is also joining the cast in an undisclosed role, saying:

On set now. We're all waiting for ONE actor: @DeRayDavis. Very late. Time to get ya ass whupped son..

He even shared a picture of the two of them arm-wrestling (below), possibly hinting that Davis may be on the Cobra side of things? Maybe not, but we certainly will be interested to see who he'll be playing. Any guesses?

So far, the eclectic cast has added RZA, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Stevenson, Walton Goggins and others and they're working hard to make their June 29, 2012 release date.

oh great, they HAD to cast a black comedian?

NOW begins the "OH HELL NAW" and "Oh man that's WHACK" and the usual shucking and Jiving that this lame comedian is known for.

just HAD to follow up Marlon Wayans didn't you guys?

I guess this was in case people forgot this was a sequel to the original.

Have you ever actually seen De Ray do comedy before or you actually just being stereotypical of all black comedians?

He's not lame, he's actually pretty funny. And all those "HELL NAWS" you see in movies? That usually isn't the actor saying "You know what, I think I could implement a well timed 'Hell Naw' in this upcoming scene." Those usually come from someone else telling them to do that.

Whatever. People defended Wayans' casting because he was a huge fan of GI JOE and years ago he appeared in a movie called Requiem For A Dream.

People also defended Mos Def's casting in Hitchhiker's as well. And he sucked.

I don't think it matters who's cast in this movie now.

Probably not going to be any worse than the first, but certainly not going to be the greatest.

What happened to Marlon Wayans ? Is he dead in this one?

I'm not going to take the bait on this one but if there's a small chance that the OP is serious I have to point out that Marlon Wayans did a great job in part 1 without resorting to any of that stuff. He was comedic and lax but not annoying or overbearing so there's no reason to assume that another black comedian will ruin the film.

Oh c'mon, you're overreacting.

Everyone thought the same thing when they heard Marlon Wayans would be in the first one and he was NOT that kind of character. Come off it. I'm sure he won't be anywhere near as exaggerated as you're expecting..

you guys are right.

I did over react.

in my opinion, Marlon was the only thing entertaining about the first one *trollface.jpg*

but if this dude follows that path of shuckin and jiving,

I'll be back.

Mos Def was great in Hitchhiker's Guide.

I think he was mentioned because he was a non actor cast in a movie

I wonder why he didn't get a poster. Maybe he's just a minor character.
