I was just wondering if anyone else feels as patronized as i do about all these movies of 2nd string heroes coming out, and when theyre not 2nd string character, you get a movie that just bombs because they have a 2nd string director, script and cast.

Great example: Fantastic Four. They all fought each other more than dr doom. And now hes coming back in the sequel? How lazy do you have to be to basically rearrange the script and say "DONE! HERES THE SEQUEL NOW GIVE ME MY MONEY!"

Same with Punisher, whats his power? Being SUPER-angry?

The rest: Elektra, Hulk and now Antman. Hollywood sure is in **** quicksand. If Hollywood doesnt slow down and think, its going to drown in its own ****.

I'de point out that they've been like this for a while.

Please see the movie "Steel" or "Barbed Wire" or "Ghost Rider"(Not the new one)

I wouldn't call the Hulk a second stringer.
But yeah, Marvel films are beginning to go the Batman Forvever way, only being made because the studios want money.

Sounds to me like you have more of an issue with the characters themselves than the movies.

The trend seems to be with movies multiple sequels (Example Batman) good original movie -> sometimes better/equal movie sequal -> crap -> Crap -> wait 10-20 years -> good movie. Of course the spider-man movies are following this path and hopefully the 3rd movie won't keep with it.

Sounds to me, that youre an idiot.

Note To Self: Not a good time to crack a Hulk joke

That was uncalled for. Chill out man, go watch the Carebears or something ;).

Boy, this noob isn't gonna be around long he keeps calling people an idiot for no reason.

Besides, this is in the wrong forum.

I have a feeling that movies like Ant-man and Iron Fist won't be made, just scripted.

If the interest isn't there, the movie won't be made, most likely. For a movie to be made, it's gotta be interesting to someone...

Even if it's the only guy in the theatre on opening day...

Hey, if they only made movies about big name characters, then Blade would have never been made. There is a lot of potential out there with the little guys. I'd love to see an Ant-Man movie because Pym f**king rocks. I'd love to see a guy shattering SUV's with his sick ass kung fu fist like that unto iron. You get a good script and some decent actors and you got a good movie. Just like the first two Blade movies. (Trinity sucked though.)

I'm not saying they wouldn't be good, but the studio might think they're not worth the money.

I actually got into an argument with my brother. I mentioned that Blade was a comic character and he said "Sure, after the movie."

I said, "Uh, no stupid. Blade was before. Look at this." And I wiki'd Blade and showed him. Lol. Funny stuff.

The Ant-man or Iron Fist movies could be good, definately. Hellboy is an example, he's not mainstream at all, and yet, he's got a kick ass movie and a smilie on this board. I never heard of Hellboy before(I'm a casual comic fan) and yet the movie was sweet.'

I would definately go see 'em, but I'm not counting on it.

some people are stupid (example: thread starter).

what people don't understand is that movies are in the business of making money. they're not in the business of making fanboys happy. unless of course that's part of how they're making their money.

and as far as marvel movies starting to suck...yeah, x3 sucked. but i'm hopeful for iron man. from what's been reported it so far, it sounds like it has a chance.

You stole my thunder. An interesting script and decent acting talent can do the trick.

Totally out of the blue there, dude.

On the issues:
The Blade movies were made because Vampires were popular at the time. It wasn't a superhero thing like now, which x-men and spider-man started. Out of this trend though, the only good movies that have been made are Batman Begins, Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2. I didn't like any of the rest and just hope Hollywood doesn't **** up stuff like The Talent (which I still can't get hold of) and Y: The Last Man. Hollywood has given comic companies another chance, however, and moved them into the modern world. Characters are now completely media-wide with series, books, movies, cartoons and comics. It's the only way. So the comic industry owes Hollywood a lot.

(Oh and Trinity was better than the second movie. Ryan Reynolds da man!)

I think Y the last man will be good sense BKV is writing it. Well as long as they keep his script.

Man of 16, do not circumvent the censors

and if you don't like the Punisher as a character, that's personal preference, it doesn't mean he's less of a character. Actually, he's Marvel's most believable character when you get right down to it. A character doesn't need to have powers to be interesting.

Hey, I'm just saying that is something an idiot would say so it's kind of ironic. I didn't attack the guy. I voiced my opinion. He chose to act like a kid and start the name calling. It's getting ridiculous. I see why noobs have such a bad reputation.

Nope...don't feel patronized at all. I like many 2nd and 3rd string characters.

Nine out of ten comics are about the heroes beating the crap out of each other before they go for the villian...so what's the big deal about them doing it in the movies too?

Punisher is Batman....with guns. There are many people in the comics who don't have "super powers"....no big whoop.

While I agree that I don't think Elektra was done right...I happened to like Hulk...I thought it was very well done. As for Antman....bring him on...the more the merrier. A favorite old film of mine is "The Incredible Shrinking Man".....a favorite newer one is "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids"...so why wouldn't I like an Antman movie?

There just seems to be an overabundance of I'm mad at the world so I'm going to complain about everything people on the internet.
