Since X-Men 2 was more or less an adaption of "God Loves, man Kills" and x-Men 3 was more or less an adaption of "Gifted" what storyline would you like to see be adapted for X-men 4?

I think they should do a three part story arc like the Mutant Empire novels. Three movies focusing on a single story and main villain would not only give the ability to add and use more characters faithfully, but keeps the genre closer to the comics.

As to which arc they should use next I don't really care. I think they should steer away from Apocalypse and Onslaught for a while. There are certain all-powerful villains which would be best suitable for use after a firm background to the characters have been established.

Mutant Genocide... the one with 16 million mutants massacred on Genosha, because of Cassandra Nova's wild Sentinels, but I think it would be wise just to have Trask unleash Sentinels and not include Nova.

Reboot. Phenix Saga.

Keep it simple, start from the beginning. The first film should essentially start laying down the framework for the Pheonix Saga (if a trilogy is all that is planned--if more than a trilogy the second film can be used).

Establish the X-men, the school and purpose, the world they inhabit (bias, prejudice, etc.). It makes sense to do this through the eyes of a student--yet don't make the character the focal point of the movie.

I like Magneto as a villian, but his endeavors usually involve huge, epic storylines that might need to span more than one film--perhaps he could be used; the end of his story could parlay into the beginning of the Phoenix Saga. This would take the franchise beyond a trilogy of course.

After dealing with the threat of Magneto the X-men go about their daily lives (what passes for daily anyway). Their next mission brings them to Muir Island and a confrontation with Proteus. Great chance for the director to show the audience the tragedy of being a mutant.

During the span of the films, the X-men are split into teams. Furthermore, we begin to get a sense of a second story or plot taking place (just as in the comics). It all culminates into the Phoenix Saga, Hellfire Club and all.

It's really going to take a truely talented director (and big $$$) to bring the X-men to life properly.

No more Phoenix. Good Lord. Lets move on before it becomes diluted and just plain stupid.

Lets see a storyline (maybe even a brand new one) that actually involves all the X-men in a somewhat even and well balanced role.

I know, I know, what a crazy insane idea that is.

Bryan Singer is the reason the majority of the X-Men movies sucked in the first place. I'm glad that he disappeared to ruin Superman, now if only they could've found someone who can tell a complex story without the use of one character as a focal point.

Don't forget the director has final say over the script, and has a habit of manipulating it throughout shooting so the end result resembles very little of the beginning.

I put Bryan Singer up there with Paul W.S. Anderson when it comes to taking ignoring what's been established. Personally, I wouldn't mind if Peter Jackson directed. He has a lot of talent when it comes to juggling characters.

I think a story involving Sinister and Hellfire Club might work. I'd also like to see Sentinels, Proteus, and some version of Apocalypse.

I'm not sure if some dark, horrific future wasteland story like Age of Apocalypse would work, because it's often said that movies set in bleak, dystopian futures do not tend to do well because the audience cannot connect to them.

Given what we've had already, the story needs to take place in a version of our world.

If you want anything really fantastical like space voyages, dystopian futures, aliens, hidden prehistoric lands, cosmic crystals or living islands, then it probably has to be a reboot that has a more fantasy setting from the beginning.
