What did Letterman say about Leno?

I can't really describe it. I recommend going to the Late Show website tomorrow and seeing Dave's monologue. He goes into a really long impression of Leno fixing a car.

I almost hate to admit this, and I still think it's really awful what they are doing to Conan, but this has made for some very entertaining TV. Angry Leno is much funnier than normal Leno, seeing Letterman cut loose on Leno for the first time was hilarious, and Conan is in "I don't give a ****" mode. He is totally loose and doing whatever he wants, and it's wonderful. Did anyone notice he brought back the string dance?

Leno was pretty pissed on tonight's monologue(and dare I say it, funnier). It's weird, he's going to be getting back his time slot, and NBC seems to back him over Conan, but he's still really mad at the network.

It's populist rage. He knows most people are pissed Conan's getting screwed no matter what happens, and so he's trying to act like he's one of the people, even though he's getting the sweeter part of the deal.

Letterman's first 20 minutes was basically making fun of Leno/NBC.

"Paul got fired so we had to come over here."

He did a Leno impression but it was in a really whiny voice, wasn't trying to be accurate just mocking. It seemed like this is secret impression that only his writers/friends have seen. Calling to Mavis for help working in his "trucks" and "cars.

Like it was mentioned its like the Montreal Screw Job, everyone gets to attack NBC and look good.

Carson Daly is in reruns for the next two weeks and maybe will be back for two weeks before he's done.

Craig actually made some jokes about Letterman but he weighed in with his Leno impression, had a Leno and Conan head graphic crash into each other and explode, and more jokes Carson Daly.

His last line also really hit the nail on the head.

Oh, and my favorite quote from the Simpsons special by Conan.

“If somebody could just put me out in a pasture somewhere, in a beautiful part of Spain and say, ‘Your job is just - we’ll pay you a dollar a year and you could have some cheap red wine and just think of weird things for Mr. Burns to say and do, I would take that job.”

It would be great to have him back in animation where anything could happen, no Tonight Show budget to limit ideas.

Maybe he'll just stay on NBC and go out and make fun of them every week. I'm going to get my money and see what I can get away with.

Morgan Freeman was on Colbert tonight and he mentioned how Freeman replaced Walter Cronkite as the voice that introduces the CBS News. So he is the most trusted man in news now, so he got him to say and bunch of lies but in a trustworthy voice. The last thing: "Conan! The 11:30 slot... yours."

Letterman tore Carson a new one too. It was great. Also, Paul's outrage at NBC was amazing. I loved hearing him speak out.

Half Irish and I wasn't alerted in advance of this development.

I am not a fan of these late night talk shows, but I am a fan Conan. I honestly think he is too talented for talk show TV. But if this is what he wants to do then I hope he goes to Fox, or another network.

Watching Lettermans opening Monologue last night was like watching a man exploding out everything he has held back for almost 20 years. It was amazing.

As some have asked what the hell does Leno have on these people? There is no logical reason for this move. Conan taking Jays plays was a natural changing of the generational guard. Now they will be hard pressed to find someone to replace Jay once he finally leaves for good.

If NBC just abruptly cancelled the Jay Leno Show before the two year mark, they'd have to pay him $50 million. That's why they're moving him to 11:35 instead of just firing his ass like they want to.

Great statement, should be very interesting to see what he says tonight during his monologue

Steve Allen, Jack Paar and Johnny Carson are rolling in their graves right now.

They would have never tried this with Carson. He would have pulled a Jackie Gleason and smacked a *****.

Conan's right in his statement; it's very disrespectful to push back The Tonight Show. It's more than a TV show, it's an institution. And props for him for mentioning how Jimmy Fallon will get hurt from this.

Seriously, one man affecting the career of two others? That man being Jay Leno. Seriously, what a mess.

I just hope when Conan moves, he'll be in line to do his 'edgier' stuff that he used to do on "Late Night".

Excellent departure statement. Conan will be huge on Fox. Hope Conando comes along lol
