Cool 'evolution of beauty' commercial

Omg I saw this before, someone in a Britney Spears forum posted it once. Kinda weird, but yeah, it's amazing what a little makeup and photoshop can do:o:up:

i'm glad they showed the public these things. as a career photoshopper, I can see how much they change female and male models in pictures, ya pick up an eye for it. most people think they just look like that all the time, when in reality, many models look like anyone else walking down the street. I absolutely believe altering the images of women in magazines and in the media has a direct result on how young women's self esteem and how they act. more normal people pictures!

That neck stretching thing creeped the hell out of me.

why were you in a britney spears forum?:csad:

Veritably, a demonstration of technology's latent potential...amazing

they're probably going a bit over the top with this but yeah they might aswell just use cg people eventually or something. they could make an identikit thing and then just mix and match. saves them money so they do it.

I've seen this before, but it's still pretty disconcerting... I mean just that they can pick an average person off the street and turn them into a billboard model using make-up and Photoshop.

How are we supposed to go about our lives genuinely and realistically when we're bombarded with fake images constantly? It's not enough that we are surrounded by fake society, special effects, and misleading corporate catchphrases, no, we can't even see a real person on our advertising.

Hats off to Dove for the "Campaign for Real Beauty".

i would use the neck stretching thing...but not on my neck..... :P

it's pretty cool if you think about it.

i read in an interview with a victoria's secret model that they photoshop all their arms skinnier and more skeletal. i actually went to my catalog and looked and veritably... they'd done it. like-- dude... the women are already beautiful... do you need to make them ematiated for the masses? what are you trying to elicit as a response from shoppers?

Well when you think about it, the pseudo-realism of most advertisements is in itself a form of social engineering. Women are psychologically conditioned to believe THAT'S how they're supposed to look, just as men are psychologically conditioned to believe that's what we're supposed to be attracted to.

But then again, the entire institute of modeling and photography is superficial. We're not supposed to believe that these women are beautiful on the inside, just that they're ultra-beautiful on the outside.

good photos reflect personalty.
Not if the subject in the photo is not the same subject who was sitting in front of the camera... how can you get an accurate representation of personality after the photo has been edited so heavily?
