I don't know why I bother commenting on posts. Commenter telling everyone wear masks. People responding that they don't listen to what the government tells them to do. Wearing a mask is such a effing minor inconvenience. Even if it only marginally protected you, don't the pros outweigh the cons?

I know, right? If atrump wasn't President this wouldn't be a thing right now, we'd all just be doing it.

This public health crisis is a direct result of forces in politics and media, at the behest of moneyed interests and those with some axe to grind on cultural issues supporting a 50 year campaign to propagandize a slice of the public to believe that anything their leaders and those whom they've given influence to target as being: Communist/Socialist/ Demonic/Satanic. All expert's are secretly liars in this view working to weaken the "regular folk" who are always beingvtrod upon by the "elites".

The elites are ill defined, but rarely those with the influence or agendas they imagine. Media? Okay... I can see an angle there. Okay... But climate scientists? College professors? Anyone with a Liberal Arts degree? I mean... These folks have allowed themselves to think climatologists have MORE incentive to push their agenda than giant corporations.

This was not by accident. It has been done from top to bottom across America. Look at the issues just in terms of school textbooks and the battles over what gets taught.

This mindset didn't just spring out of nowhere the last ten years.


And politically speaking it has been the work of one side and not the other for their own benefit but at the cost of all the damage being done to good governance, social order, justice or the general psyche of the nation.


But it wasn't overnight. The Internet simply accelerated the outcome.

Local hospitals aren't filled yet. We're not seeing much of it, but there are more cases. My brother-in-law's niece has the virus so now his sister and parents are quarantining for two weeks. I know a former co-worker's son has it and I fear if Abbott pulls another let the counties handle it potential infected from the hotspots will migrate to others and make things worse.

Oh there are people who act like they're from a microcosm Florida. If I hear the media are playing it up to destroy Trump's reelection again, I'm going to scream. And they're all idiots who think any sort of face coverings won't do anything even the N95.

Problem is... We know it won't work out that way. Because they can't be mindful enough to wear masks in public, wash hands and wear gloves they will continue the line of transmission.

Both the legit protesters and even the looters I got to see up close and personal were mindful enough to wear masks.

But these people are hardheaded for no reason outside of severely misplaced senses of both resentment and entitlement.

Is there any center of power or influence making it its business to counter all that nonsense?

This is something we have to think about, sadly. The Feds are adrift. And some states in the Union have leadership that for whatever reasons is going out of their way not to do the best job.

Well... It is up to the citizens then, no? There must be actions that can be taken to counter this and I actually don't think finding influential/powerful allies is as difficult as some may think. For everuly business that is chomping to reopen without any regs on Corona, there's likely more that see how the continued fumbling and the early openings will affect the bottom line in the long run, and will cause too much loss of life.

There can be a coallition built for public health and safety that while not having the policy and law writing powers of elected officials and government authorities can still have a great affect on the populace at large.

This is gonna be a long haul situation regardless who is POTUS in 2021. Some are lucky to be in a locality or state with at minimum competent leadership in regards to Covid response. Others are not so lucky. If you aren't lucky (See: Entire State Of Texas...) it might be necessary for you and those that care in your community to make your own luck.

That's worrying but not surprising surely. I was thinking about this 2 months ago, when there was talk of reopening. The virus hasn't been wiped out and even in low numbers it will surge again if places are allowed to re-open especially beaches, bars, pubs, cinemas and international travel. At this point I think we will be in this cycle of spikes and local/regional lockdowns until either a vaccine is made available or enough people get infected for wider population protection. People that are flocking to Bournemouth beaches and stuff really think that the pandemic is over and I from what the UK government have been advising, I'm not too shocked by it as the Tories have been always 3 steps behind during this.
