Remember when we had folk posting on here about how there was no fudging of numbers out of Florida and that the whistelblower was the one in the wrong or some equally dumb **** that missed the point that the story of a state going out of its way to lower numbers in a pandemic is irresponsible and bad governance?

"We have lost a remarkable and loving husband, father, grandfather and a great American," they said, noting he was fully vaccinated.

I’m sorry that the man has passed but I’m very worried since it was known that such a high profile person like Powell died of the virus despite being fully vaccinated that it will discourage more people from being vaccinated. You know after this news those anti-vaxxers are inevitably going to feel vindicated, and go like “see! told ya’ so!” Taking the vaccines are pointless!” or some crazy stuff like that even though you’re still statistically much less likely to die from the virus when you’re vaccinated than when you aren’t vaccinated.

This will be a wash cuz... To put it lightly no matter what else Powell's role in the second Iraq war will overshadow anything else about him. That and both an advanced age as well as the medical issues he had will make this a blip in the back and forth on vaccinating the masses.

Blood cancer + age + whatever else put him in the high risk bucket regardless of vaccination status. For some people in that category surviving the pandemic is going to be hard even if you do everything possible to protect yourself short of living housebound alone in a cabin in the woods which might be for the best.

Well he also had multiple myeloma, a cancer of the white blood cells that produce antibodies and weakens the body's ability to fight off infections. That could've been a significant factor. As well as being in his 80s. But unfortunately I don't think any of that will matter to such people. They'll just use this as well as that makeup designer that also passed away due to Covid despite being fully vaccinated and no health conditions as their "proof" that vaccines don't work.
