Corona and other diseases

The Newsbreak App I've mentioned provides a map of the country as well as one of how things break down county wise in each state. It utilizes the GPS on the phone to give local news updates as well ( the CoronaVirus tab get news specified towards that as well).

That's a good resource too for additional information.
Thanks. I’ll see if I can get that. It’s possible I might not be able to as I’m not in US myself. (UK)

This place updates throughout the day so the US daily number will keep getting higher for a few more hours. (Scroll down for all the breakdowns)

Coronavirus Update (Live): 589,312 Cases and 26,935 Deaths from COVID-19 Virus Outbreak - Worldometer

Thanks.

Was I reading that right, just shy of 15,000 new cases just today?? Damn.

Trump said we were at 15 total cases and would soon be zero exactly a month ago. Hmm. I'm no math doctorate, but going from 15 to 100 THOUSAND+ in a month, does not equate to "down to ZERO in a few days".

Which site or station are you guys following?

MSNBC has it at 94,707 confirmed cases and 1,461 deaths (in the US).

Johns Hopkins' CV19 site had 97,028 confirmed US cases as of just before 2pm this afternoon.

I downloaded it for free from the Google Play store after someone at my workplace told me about it. I think it should be able to be downloaded outside of the U.S. but I'm not sure if works with Apple based products is the main thing.

Under the Corona Virus tab inside the App there's 2 sections that can be toggled between with one global and one just for the U.S. The U.S. section has a map that can be zoomed in on each state to show updates within the regions of each state down to the county level. There's also a pretty detailed graph showcasing new cases by date nationally and locally depending how zoom in on the map.

The global section is mainly numerical broken down by country without a map (it still has a + sign each day for new confirmed or recovered cases added daily to overall tally though). If the localized news feature provides updates in the country you're in then that should provide some additional info. as well. If it works well overseas I'm curious to know.

Thanks for all this. I’ll give it a try.

Yes, and that daily figure can still go up in the next few hours. It has done the last few days I’ve been watching it. You’ve been at 5 digit daily gains for a few days now and it won’t be long before that goes to 20k.

Wow, our lockdown is nothing like that. :(
I'm mostly concerned about food but things like that bug me. I'm aware that the city is in a lockdown and there's a curfew, but streets being blocked by wires/metals is just bizarre to me. It reminds me of zombie videogames where certain street ways are blocked. And they didnt even bother to put a sign in which street people can go out. No wonder why people are panic buying in the first place.

I'm also anemic, and I still have to find a drugstore where I can get my iron supplements. And things like streets being blocked without an announcement is alarming.

Trump's hotel advertising an Easter buffet is essentially the equivalent of the Mayor in Jaws forcing that one guy to go in the water to show it's "okay".

Just got a text that Verizon added 15GB of free data to my cell plan. I can use it until 4/30. Kinda funny though because I’m actually barely using any cell data as I’m just connected on my WiFi at home. Still a good thing to do though and I’m not complaining!

Although Evangeline Lilly is one to talk...

Yeah like a lot of carriers are going to be doing that supposedly.

Up to 181 daily deaths in the UK now. Starting to get a bit scary.

Figures in Scotland from 2pm today are 12,273 tested, 1,059 confirmed cases and 33 deaths.

I'm hoping it doesn't spike too much. Also, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary has started doing their own tests with around 160 samples a day (all hospitals currently have to send to Glasgow for test results), so cutting out travel time etc is great news. I hope more hospitals can do the same.

Thanks.

Yeah, would be nice to see cable companies/internet providers follow suit and offer discounts right now since everyone's depending on wi-fi more than ever, but I ain't holding my breath there.

Yeah a discount would be very helpful or maybe waive the late fees or extend the payment period. Cable and internet can get really pricey.
